(Ex) DP and I broke up a few months ago but still live together and get on amicably.
We live in a rented property and it's been hard work living with him since we broke up and that's even with us getting on ok!
Our tenancy was due for renewal in June and the plan was for me to keep living in the house alone from then. ExDp came home yesterday with the news he has found a new house and can get the keys next week, so I asked the agency if he can leave the tenancy and me have a single tenancy.
They have come back and said to be a single tenant I have to earn over £20,000 per annum (I earn £18,500) and have checked and checked and rechecked if I would be in a sound financial position to take on the house alone and I will be. They won't budge though.
ExDP thinks it'll be ok if he still leaves soon and we just carry on the tenancy til it ends and I'll have to look for somewhere new from there. We will just tell the agency that we will leave things as they are and that he's staying.
Is there anything wrong with this? He trusts me explicitly for his name to still be on the tenancy until it ends and we plan to stay in touch as good friends anyway so when it comes to handing keys in when tenancy ends, we will go and do it together. Is there anything wrong in this?
