To ask for exercise DVD recommendations?

DH and I have two young DC, we both work full time, we have busy weekends and we both have fat tummies. The time has come to shift some (a lot) of the unwanted padding and we're trying to incorporate exercise into the plan.

As DC generally go to bed around 7.30 we thought an exercise DVD 4 times a week would be a good start, especially as it's been a good 3-4 years since either of us did any proper exercise. It means we can do it together, and we're not trying to fit in gyms or classes into what little time we have that's childfree.

Any recommendations for DVDs that would suit us both to do together would be gratefully received! TIA

Davina is good to get you started as it's not too hard. Any of her dvds work. 30 day shred is also good.

I've just finished my 30 Day Shred for the night. The sweat is pouring off me. A few weeks ago, my very fit DH, who goes to the gym four times a week and has a washboard stomach, thought he'd 'give it a go' too, just for a laugh. Admittedly he was using far too heavy weights for the reps, but even so, he staggered away at the end, muttering about not being able to keep up with Natalie...

30 Day Shred by Jillian Michaels. 25 mins of very effective hell. She also does a beginner version, if you want to break yourselves in gently, as opposed to merely breaking yourselves.

I second the Shred too. It's a killer but effective

ednabuckett · 10/04/2018 22:43

You'll find a lot of these and others for free on YouTube.

Jillian Michaels 30 day shred is brilliant. It’s the only one I’ve stuck to

physicsisfun1 · 11/04/2018 18:13

I love beach body on demand or any beach body workouts but they can be expensive.

I prefer the Shaun T ones though.

Teaandbiscuits88 · 11/04/2018 18:17

Charlotte Crosby's belly blitz is amazing. Each bit is in 3 min bursts so keeps my attention. Definitely works your tummy!

emoshional · 11/04/2018 18:20

Scarlett Moffatt.

Oh, wait...

SluttyButty · 11/04/2018 18:30

30 day shred been used here too. You do end up shouting swearing very naughty words at the tv but it's over quickly and does produce results.

KikiMadeMeDoIt · 11/04/2018 18:35

If you want some videos that are effective and (can be) gentle, pop over here... Non damaging exercise thread

chewablemunchkin · 11/04/2018 18:54

I highly recommend anything by the firm. They have loads, lots of variety and range from 20 min to 50 workouts so easy to fit in. I think they're defunct now but you can buy the dvds from amazon. You can use weights or not and you don't need a lot of space to do them.
I do agree that 30 day shred is a great workout but I just find that woman annoyingly annoying!

allthecoffeeplease · 11/04/2018 19:25

The body coach bloke has loads on you tube which are free and actually work.

teaandtwigs · 11/04/2018 19:27

T25. 25 minutes a day. Low impact modifiers if your bladder/knees can't cope - varied workouts and it works

GeekyWombat · 11/04/2018 19:33

DDPYoga. Wait, keep reading! It’s not zen type yoga. DDP is a wrestler who broke his back and used yoga to rehabilitate before coming back to the top of his game. It’s short workouts that focus on strength building, toning and fat burning. I’ve been doing it six months and (with calorie counting too) I’ve lost three stone, it’s pretty much solidified my bingo wings and my mum tum is significantly better. There’s DVDs you can buy or there’s an app (which comes with a month’s free trial) with hundreds of different workouts on it - ranging from people who can barely move / need to start with chair workouts through to those yoga sorts who look like they’re levitating. Great for both men and women and really recommended. I love it because there’s so many different workouts you can’t get bored (and they divide them up by time too so today with poorly kids I only managed a 20 minute one by at the weekend I could try for a 45 minute to an hour one.

Liskee · 12/04/2018 21:29

Thank you all!! 30 day shred has been purchased and I've been googling the yoga wrestler...I may be slightly obsessed with him!

Your advice and input is much appreciated Grin
