To go away on my own?

Hello,
I have a stressful job, 40h plus per week, which I enjoy but also value "me time".
For the last few years I've had a 4 night break, in Sicily, by myself and loving it.
My partner is absolutely fine with it, but quite a few of my work colleagues are making snide comments... We've been happily together for 15 years.
It's a few days where I can recharge, read a few books, so totally innocent, but why do I have to explain myself? Thanks

I do the same every year, go away by myself for a few days. I love it, it's a few days on my own to do exactly what I want & it recharges my batteries. DH is fine with it, as would I be if he did the same.

I've never had comments from work colleagues though.

Your colleagues are odd. But fortunately you're not in a relationship with them. They must be very posessive or insecure?

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 10/04/2018 21:19

Sounds amazing OP. Just don't talk about it to them anymore. They're probably a bit envious Wink

Iloveacurry · 10/04/2018 21:20

No it sounds lovely. They’re probably just jealous.

firstworldproblems2018 · 10/04/2018 21:21

Totally fine and I am jealous! Absolutely go and enjoy it!

You don't have to explain yourself.

Your colleagues are a bit odd! They can't see past their own expectations which is probably why they make snide comments!

I have a friend who regularly travels abroad for work and she books an extra day or two and takes it as a holiday.

Her husband doesn't seem to mind looking after their two kids at home. Encourages her to take a break if she wants to and he takes the kids to visit in laws and parents while she is away.

We think it's fabulous ! Why wouldn't you take advantage of an opportunity like that?

Go for it!
