Generous fit school uniform

Posting here for traffic.

Can anyone recommend some generous fit school gingham dresses? We used to use BHS which were great as the tie back let you nip their large size in. All the other brands seem only marginally bigger than ‘usual’ sizes and don’t come near fitting. A couple of days ago I had a ‘D’oh’ moment and remembered I was supposed to start looking early this year. Now Asda have sold out (was told these may be good). Help!

Can anyone point me in the direction of some?

Tesco looked quite wide when I looked when I went shopping.

Maybe try online at next some of their stuff they do plus fit

dlnex · 09/04/2018 21:48

I found some at an indoor market for my DD not a high street brand.

BrownTurkey · 09/04/2018 21:48

Try amazon or ebay too. There used to be an ebay shop called sturdy kids that did some good quality trousers.

Plainandsimple · 09/04/2018 21:50

Next and M&S both do boys plus fits, so I'd assume they also do girls - only online though.

ijustwannadance · 09/04/2018 21:59

Sainsburys TU sell all colours £4.50 but online only in generous fit.

TeatimeForTheSoul · 09/04/2018 21:59

Thanks!
PlainandSimple She’s outgrown M&S. She’s very active, think rower physique but add a little tummy she’s developed this year. Even their biggest only just meets around her chest.
Giles thanks but Tesco’s generous have sold out too from what I can see.
BrownTurkey Funnily enough I tried sturdy kids for trousers but they were too big for her. Unfortunately they don’t do summer dresses as even really big is ok when pulled in on a dress.

Why didn’t I look sooner?!?!?! Aargh!!

Thanks IJust but from their size charts Sainsbury’s generous fit are smaller than M&S.

Matalan come up wide on some of their dresses.

TeatimeForTheSoul · 09/04/2018 22:08

dlnex thanks for the suggestion of an indoor market. Any chance you would message me with where the market is just in case we’re in the same part of the country? I’ve been to our local ones quite recently and didn’t see any uniform but will check again.

Thanks Choccy checked Matakan size guide and they come a bit closer so will cross my fingers and try there.

eBay?

ToastyFingers · 09/04/2018 22:34

next do some uniform in plus fit, and go up to 16 years, plus if you don't already have an account, you usually get some money off your first order.

Troels · 09/04/2018 22:55

I bought some on ebay, first I ordered one to make sure it fit, then went back and ordered more, basic ones, gingham, with a white polo shirt type collar and a zip front, so no gaping buttons. Cheap too. It was These

Bluefrontdoor · 09/04/2018 22:56

Do not bother with Sainsbury's, I accidentally bought the generous fit for my very slim daughter I got the next size up as she is tall, tried them and they fit her well, this is un heard of as she is so slim and tall trousers/leggings etc are either too short or fall off. I put them against last year's (although a size smaller) there was half an inch different 😱
My boy is a child that wears generous fit and I've always found the school outfit shop good for his stuff maybe they do different brand dresses to high street?

monkeysox · 09/04/2018 22:56

Sainsburys were good.

TeatimeForTheSoul · 09/04/2018 23:18

Thanks Toasty but Next are way too small for us.

Troels will definitely try these! Can’t see any size info but worth getting one to try.

BlueFrontDoor is that the school outfit shop yout hen Googling or just outfitters in general? Our local one doesn’t do dresses but hadn’t thought of trying further away.

I think tomorrow every spare minute will be about school dresses and I’ll pray the weather stays rubbish for a while so she’s happy in trousers.

What age is your DD OP? Tesco's have all sizes in stock except 12-13 yrs and 13-14yrs but this was in red and white, I didn't check for other colours. Also from experience Asda's stock does come back in - a quick check showed again only the bigger ages were sold old in all colours except yellow where a few other sizes were also out of stock.

TeatimeForTheSoul · 09/04/2018 23:56

Ginnitginger it’s the bigger sizes we’re looking for as she’s very tall as well (yes we are just a ‘big’ family) and they don’t have any in our colour. Thanks for letting me know Asda re-stocks. I’ll call them tomorrow as they don’t seem to do an online plus-fit size chart.

I really miss BHS!!!

Before ordering, put one in your watch list and message the seller, they were really nice and sent me measurements. They really should put them on the listing shouldn't they.

pigpoglet · 10/04/2018 07:52

Next online do plus fit it but they next size up and get it shortened .
My freind gets her boys stuff from a website called sturdy kids or something . Maybe worth a look

mummyof2boys30 · 10/04/2018 08:01

debnehams maybe or i know my cousin gets lots of her daughters clothes in m &co as generous fit (not sure if do uniforms)

gateto · 11/04/2018 13:02

Amazon is definitely the place to go, they have various different generous fit summer dresses!
