To ask for your ideas for honeymoon

Hi,

We get married in sept and are considering a honeymoon in Oct half term- our potential school half terms a week late so last week of Oct going into nov. We have two children- 4 and nearly 1. Where can we go?

Long haul sounds hellish! We got prices for Orlando + Disney- oh man! Europe risks rain? My partner won't go to Dubai/ turkey/Egypt/ Tunisia/Cape Verde.

Can anyone suggest anything or help? I would be v grateful!

Malta is still warm in October and reasonably priced

LadyLaSnack · 07/04/2018 19:01

Canaries? You might get better weather than in mainland Europe at that time of year. I've been to Tenerife off season and it has a bit of life to it.

ZenNudist · 07/04/2018 19:03

The Azores? Bit different. Portuguese. Good all year round.5.5 hour flight plus transfer to other islands in the time you're there.

Cyprus weather will be Ok.

Mauritius be great for honeymoon but its far with dc.

Whisky2014 · 07/04/2018 19:05

Im planning Galapagos in Nov...looks amazing

ZenNudist · 07/04/2018 19:05

Im thinking of a trip round Belgium in Oct half term. Looks great for dc and i found a hotel that does babysitting in Brussels, pricey though.

What kind of holiday do you want? Whats your max spend.

we went to cyprus in October a few years back - was really warm and sunny

elQuintoConyo · 07/04/2018 19:09

Canaries for warmth.

Not sure what there is to do in Madeira for a 4yo...? But beach, lunch on a terrace, ice cream, potter around some nice squares, visit a playground, rinse + repeat.

keeppassingtheopenwindows1 · 07/04/2018 21:24

Thanks for help so far- we are goi g to Tenerife in May so don't really want to go there again. Galapagos sound amazing! Is that reasonably priced?

Budget- id say up to 4K - I think Disney came in at 6500 room only! Eek!

Mmm i think Galapagos is £££ but it is once in a lifetime!

Whisky2014 · 07/04/2018 22:07

Myanmar? Looks amazing. 400/500 to get there then cheap as chips. Lots of stuff to see and do

ForalltheSaints · 07/04/2018 22:10

Myanmar is not somewhere I suggest going given the government there.

Given your DCs I would opt for Malta.

Hillarious · 07/04/2018 22:12

Do what my colleague did - enjoy the novelty of being a newly-wed, have a very short break and a proper honeymoon around your first anniversary.

Schnauzermum2 · 07/04/2018 22:13

Cyprus really kid friendly will still be warm )but check re opening of businesses - some close end of Oct)

Whisky2014 · 07/04/2018 22:13

Mmm myanmar is fine! Its massive. My parents live there and say its very safe. Pics look amazing. They said someone left a big wrapped present at the train station came back a day later and it was on exactly the same spot where it had been left. Dont think you could say the same if that happened in the uk and also they worship white folk from the west...

ISpeakJive · 07/04/2018 22:15

Cyprus - Very warm that time of year and lots to do.

AgnesBrownsCat · 07/04/2018 22:22

With two small kids I wouldn’t be wanting to go any further than 3/4 hours on a plane. Don’t get caught up in the whole “ once in a lifetime holiday crap” . What about somewhere in Croatia ? I’ve heard it’s beautiful. Or the Greek islands.

preggersteach · 07/04/2018 22:23

We did Vietnam and Hong Kong - was amazing!! We did the Disney in Hong Kong as well, not as good as Florida but still fun! Singapore and Malaysia is also a good call! Though flights for both were not cheap Vietnam and Malaysia are both very cheap once you are there. In Vietnam we did a cruise in halong bay which was spectacular.

lovelyjubilly · 07/04/2018 22:26

Safari!

MrsL2016 · 07/04/2018 22:36

Another vote for the Greek Islands. I went to Rhodes (Lindos) in Oct and it was lovely and warm. Crete is nice too but I found it quite breezy in June so not sure about weather in Oct.

Turnocks34 · 07/04/2018 22:44

We’re doing a city break for ours, three nights in Rome, followed by two nights in Florence. It’s actually worked out quite cheap as we’ve done it all separately xx

lostlemon · 07/04/2018 22:48

Cyprus
Mauritius - all inclusive - watersports etc

catinboots9 · 07/04/2018 22:50

Amalfi coast

minipie · 07/04/2018 23:06

It's a tricky time of year. Europe no longer reliably warm but long haul is expensive and hard work with small DC.

Personally in your shoes I'd do a weekend away shortly after the wedding, and then save the rest of the budget for a lovely holiday next summer or next may half term.

Also bear in mind your 4 yr old may be very tired after their first half term of school and not on great form for a holiday...

Weedsnseeds1 · 07/04/2018 23:48

Does it have to be abroad?
Given that you are including children, have a browse of this website. Some truly magical places

honeyroar · 08/04/2018 00:39

Southern European islands would still be warm, Cyprus etc.

It's a good time for the Middle East, ie Dubai.

California Disney area isn't quite as big, with not as many parks, so it may be cheaper. The weather is much nicer in LA than Florida too.
