She "borrowed" my plans and now is miraculously doing everything i had planned that doesnt require planning permission.

Thos plans cost me £550 to get drawn up!!!

Oh i am so not happy

I'd watch for whatever else she's doin. Used to have aneighbour like that and once called round to hers for something to discover a very cheap and nasty looking version of our house - decor and everything!!!

stoppinattwo · 10/05/2007 18:39

Im jusy annoyed becaus i have put a lot of thought into what we want to do, it is quite individual, and the plans cost a lot to do. they were done by an architect for approval.

I'd be pissed off too but also flattered........

cos you clearly have great taste

stoppinattwo · 10/05/2007 18:42

Well I did think of that Laurie. she must lack imagination, she's started her work too, we cant quite afford to do ours yet, not enoug equity!!. But i suppose i can get a preview, and maybe learn from the stuff that doent quite work

DimpledThighs · 10/05/2007 18:46

that kind of thing really really really pisses me off.

stoppinattwo · 10/05/2007 18:48

Will you go and tell her DT..............please

OP posts:
SuGaRCoAteDPoiSOn · 10/05/2007 18:49

is there not some kind of copyright restriction you could quote at her?

it is very annoying when this sort of thng happens

Twiglett · 10/05/2007 18:50

ask her for half the money seeing she's nicked half the ideas

do it jokingly but pointedly

DeviousDaffodil · 10/05/2007 18:50

Why so bothered?
At least her house will look nice too, better than living next door to a dive.

Twiglett · 10/05/2007 18:50

can you tell me what ideas she's nicked?

stoppinattwo · 10/05/2007 18:54

TBH, she caught me out a bit, was talking about making some changes and was going to recommend the architect to her, she siad ooh can i have a quick look at your plans??

I stupidly passed them to her because i felt a bit rough saying "oh no they are secret" but forgot to take them back, think she copied them. our houses are identical you see. She did know though that they cost me a bomb to get done.

OP posts:
stoppinattwo · 10/05/2007 18:55

am bothered Daff because of the cost to get the plans drawn up!! £550 is a lot to me.

OP posts:
stoppinattwo · 10/05/2007 18:55

twig.............now see I would share them with you my sticky mate you make me smile

DeviousDaffodil · 10/05/2007 19:03

Tell her that your architect has been in touch and there is a fatal flaw in the plans and you can't go ahead.

SaintGeorge · 10/05/2007 19:05

Get your architect to bill her for using his/her plans.

agnesnitt · 10/05/2007 19:07

I'd present her with an invoice

Agnes

stoppinattwo · 10/05/2007 22:27

I think I am going to rise above it, and pity her lack of imagination. and learn from all her costly mistaker

OP posts:
stoppinattwo · 10/05/2007 22:27

hee hee mistakes even!!

OP posts:
Quootiepie · 10/05/2007 22:31

draw up fake plans yourself and say you have changed your mind - see if she copies thos,e then go ahead with origional plans

Quootiepie · 10/05/2007 22:32

eeek @ my spelling

bran · 10/05/2007 22:38

I think the imaginary flaw is a good idea. Tell her that your architect will be drawing up some new plans because he has had the originals checked by a structural engineer and there's a very real danger that the upstairs will collapse with your original plan.

It is a big cheeky of your neighbour, isn't it?

stoppinattwo · 11/05/2007 17:48

have just been "invited" for a nosey It looks cool just like it knew it would. Oh god i want to cry...............I said, "i knew that would be a good idea, you know when i thought of it!!!"

I dont know how much of me is annoyed about the price, or annoyed about pinching my idea and getting to do her work first.

i feel a bit mean, but i have been looking forward to doing this work soooo much

Show her your plans again, with subtle changes "for building regs" , "must conform to be able to sell" etc . I'm sure the architect would have something to say about breech of his copyright btw. Talk colours/finishes , really outlandish ones , then when you do it choose different ones as originala were so last year ! Perhaps she won't bother with the more radical chanegs now anyway.

SoupDragon · 11/05/2007 18:06

Oh yes, casually drop in something like the phrase "Did your structural engineer make that correction about the missing RSJ?"

I would also pointedly mention how much the plans had soct me.
