It’s SO GOOD.

So funny, so sweet, so faithful to the tongue-in-cheek tone of the books, the fabulously fun and clever dialogue, THE ACTING (omg Neil Patrick Harris as Count Olaf), and how the baddies are mainly characterised by being ignorant and the goodies fight them with the power of libraries and inventions and clever schemes.

It is everything my nerdy little heart could ever desire - aibu to think it’s the best thing out right now?!

Liked him before but his opening number at the 2013 Tony Awards blew me away!

I haven't seen this yet, but would like to. My geek antennae started twitching when I heard Nathan Fillion is in the second series.

SleepingBooty · 31/03/2018 18:54

Jim Carrey was a better Count Olaf but I do like the series.

mamaduckbone · 31/03/2018 18:55

It’s fab - we’re working our way through season 2 this rainy bank holiday weekend. YANBU!

Lotsofplanetshaveanorth · 31/03/2018 19:05

We love it in this house - tickles my 7 year old - he has a taste for the macabre. DH and I were just talking about how the libraries are fab.

misskatamari · 31/03/2018 19:10

Oooh I haven't watched it yet but thanks for the recommendation, I think I'll watch the next. We're currently just starting season 3 if Crazy Ex-girlfriend, which is ace and I would highly recommend! Hilarious and a musical!

gamerwidow · 31/03/2018 19:11

Me and Dd(7) love it. So funny and they don't dumb things down for the kids either.

CaptainHammer · 31/03/2018 19:21

Love NPH and Nathan Fillion (obviously) but still haven’t managed to fit this in yet. Will start it tomorrow!

UserX · 31/03/2018 19:32

Well, if you don’t mind the casual paedophilia.

pandarific · 31/03/2018 19:38

Wtf user? What on earth are you on about?

We are loving this, and are very glad series 2 is finally out - DSS was counting down the days!

UserX · 31/03/2018 19:51

We stopped watching after the 3rd(?) episode where uncle Olaf was going to marry the girl and nobody seemed to think there was anything wrong with it. It was just creepy—even after he was found out, the emphasis was on trying to take their money, not trying to sleep with a 14yo. Not to mention all his leering friends. But if you can put that to one side I’m sure it’s a great show.

ParisUSM · 31/03/2018 19:52

I need to catch up on this, thanks for the reminder

gamerwidow · 31/03/2018 19:56

userx you've completely missed the point. Everyone thinks Count Olaf trying to marry Violet is a horrible thing that's the plot. He is an evil man who will stop at nothing to get the orphans money. His also a mass murderer no one thinks murder is funny either in real life Hmm

pandarific · 31/03/2018 20:04

Okay then.Confused

In true storybook-villain fashion, Olaf is attempting to marry violet to steal her fortune - he has absolutely no interest in her otherwise and at no time was it otherwise implied.

It’s lunacy to describe that as ‘casual pedophilia’.

I didn't even know it existed so thank you!
Will be watching it 😁
