Took my DCs (4 and 6) to see this yesterday.

I'm so confused! The marketing was aimed at this age group (stickers, egg hunt at local Tesco! Colouring packs etc...) but it was a very grown up film.

Some of it was really inappropriate (some horrible joke about 'stumpy' who had a disability related to an accident with his leg I think).

AIBU in being disappointed?

To be fair, I quite enjoyed it and my 6 year seemed to think it was ok.

I just think they could have done better.

It's too old for little ones (at whom it's marketed)

Teenagers would probably enjoy it but won't go because I doubt it's cool! Adults will only go for the kids.

Very odd.

I took my 6 year old. We both enjoyed the slapstick but it was tonally all over the place and very inappropriate in places. I wondered if they were trying to do the jokes for the parents going over kids heads thing.

PeonyTruffle · 31/03/2018 10:16

My 3yr old loved it - the more adult jokes went completely over his head but he still enjoyed it

I really liked it too Grin

Mine are 8 & 6, they really enjoyed it-I thought it was ok too. There were a lot of younger children in our viewing & all were laughing through most of the film.

We went DC 3 & 4 .. 4 year old thought peter rabbit was naughty .. we all loved it

I've not seen it - would Beatrix Potter recognise it, does anyone who has seen it think?

TheMythicalChicken · 31/03/2018 10:35

Took DD5 to see it yesterday. We both loved it. I think the adult jokes must have gone over my head as well as I didn’t notice them 😁.

Wallabaloo · 31/03/2018 10:36

Beatrix potter might be disappointed, as I was, at the lack of cute burrow domesticity. PR’s mother, far from wrapping him up, scolding him and baking for him, is dead :(

falsepriest · 31/03/2018 10:36

It’s an absolute turd. Beatrix must be spinning in her grave enough to replace nuclear turbines across the globe. Total dross.

Shednik · 31/03/2018 11:48

It looks shit, I haven't taken my children.

ERipley · 31/03/2018 11:53

I thought it was great. Don’t remember any adult jokes though. Confused

Taking dd's 11+12 and ds's 9+3 later today. Not sure what to expect but bag is packed with snacks so that's guaranteed a grand afternoon out!

WannaBeWonderWoman · 31/03/2018 11:58

DS (7) and I saw it yesterday. DS announced it was his 2nd best film ever and I really enjoyed it too. The live action was very well done.

I think it suits 5's and over. A lot of the toddler age kids in the cinema seemed to be unsettled.
