To think brown and cream leather don’t mix or match

If you had a 2 seater dark brown leather sofa, could you buy a 2 seater cream sofa and make it work? Sofas would be in a neutral cream beige average lounge.

I think it would look awful but the person who wants this thinks it would be great and wants to spend £££ on it, so maybe I’m missing something...

I think it could look nice and personally would do it if they were the same or similar style.

Dahlietta · 29/03/2018 18:28

I think it could work. I'm not a matching furniture kind of girl.

DairyisClosed · 29/03/2018 18:29

Dark brown and cream really wouldn't work. What a strange idea.

JeSaisPas · 29/03/2018 18:29

I think that could definitely work.

Leeds2 · 29/03/2018 19:00

I think it would work.

MargotLovedTom1 · 29/03/2018 19:01

It would look like tiramisu Wink. I probably wouldn't tbh.

BMW6 · 29/03/2018 19:26

To some it would look great, to others not.
Personal taste so there is no correct answer.

UpstartCrow · 29/03/2018 19:33

It was a thing in the 1970's.

Spanglybangles · 29/03/2018 19:44

Hmm not sure about the 2 different leathers to be honest. We have a cream/beige fabric sofa and a dark sort of antique brown leather sofa with wooden floor, dark plum rug and f&b elephants breath on the walls together with cushions and other accessories in greys, heathers, pale blue and beiges. I think it all looks great together and not matchy matchy.

Spanglybangles · 29/03/2018 19:46

Should have specified maybe they could consider the 2 colours but try mixing up the materials.

thismumismad · 29/03/2018 22:55

I have cream trimmed with brown leather cushions going with my cream leather sofas. It works ok.

DianaPrincessOfThemyscira · 29/03/2018 23:18

I wouldn’t. I would do a brown leather and teal velvet (for example) for a really eclectic look, but not the same sofa in two different colours. I feel like leather makes it worse?!

Katedotness1963 · 29/03/2018 23:19

If you love it, who cares if it "matches". Eclectic is lovely!

Lemons1571 · 29/03/2018 23:20

Yes he is talking about two identical sofas, one dark brown leather (already has this) and one cream leather Hmm

Brown and cream go well. You could definitely make it work

BellMcEnd · 29/03/2018 23:25

No. I think it would look horrid. Sorry. Like the pp’s sugggstion of teal or another contrasting colour.

thehairyhog · 29/03/2018 23:32

Sorry but cream leather sounds awful with anything Confused

Nanny0gg · 30/03/2018 00:14

Horrible. But then I don't like cream leather furniture under any circumstances.

kimanda · 30/03/2018 00:17

Yeah definitely works.

Puffycat · 30/03/2018 00:20

Sorry but I can’t see it working! That said I like black leather furniture. I could cope with the brown but the cream, no.

Katyb1310 · 30/03/2018 12:23

I can't see it working but I think it's because it's leather? I think you can get away with more with fabric sofas. I'm not a leather fan but don't hate the look in someone else's house (in just one colour though!) - I just think if they were fabric it could work. We used to have a light cream sofa and a darker beige one and with the right cushions, rug and throws etc it did work ok xx
