To expect a really clean car for £16?

What are your expectations of a hand car wash?

Our local place has increased in price to £16.00 for an external wash and inside clean / hoover.

They take about 10/15 for this service. I take any rubbish out of the car.

The alloy wheels are still grubby from the motorway miles I do, there are still the kids footprints on the plastic door seals, and the are a few bits missed from hoovering.
Do you reckon I got my £16 worth? Would you expect to book a valet for a deeper clean?
Yawn, bit of a boring post.
Thanks!

It would depend on the state of the car to begin with.

I pay £25 (for a small car) and there are usually some scuffs ans marks and bits still there.

I once paid £50 and I was happy with the clean.

I forgot to add.

If it's Tesco then they are Shit...I once went in to do my shop for double the length of time they said it would take. Paid, go in the car and it wasn't clean, told them a guy went in flicked a dirty cloth about and said 'it's done'. I protested. After 30 mins of back and forth I demanded my money back and went elsewhere.

Hmm. £16 is both not very much for a clean car, and quite a lot for 15 minutes, IYSWIM.

Personally, I don't use the handwash place near me as I worry about the people working there (I pass often and they always look sad and cold). Casting no aspersions on the one near you, of course, as some are very good and reputable.

I tend to take mine for a full-on valet about once a year. It costs £65 but it gleams inside and out afterwards. Tyres to aerial tip. And the protective whatnot they put on everything means the sheen lasts, too. In-between times I just do £2 jet-washes and it comes up beautifully.

I'd think I've entered another universe at £50 for a car clean. But back to the op, I would expect a very clean car for £16. That to me is an expensive car clean (at least round here!)

I use Tesco when I can afford them and it’s £30 for my Focus estate and it’s spotless. They do a fab job and have removed dirt that I thought I was stuck with forever.

bananamonkey · 29/03/2018 15:54

I pay £16 for an estate car, they do inside and out and takes about 20-30 minutes, they do a brilliant job!

SprogletsMum · 29/03/2018 15:57

I pay £10 for inside and out and my car is spotless after. For £16 I'd be annoyed if it was still grubby. My car is barely worth £50 there's no way I'd pay that to clean it!

Toddlerteaplease · 29/03/2018 16:05

I pay £10 and it's spotless inside and out!

I pay £20 for a big car inside and out. Same clean is £15 for a medium car. Usually leave it with them for an hour (Though they are doing other cars too). It is always spotless afterwards. I don't know how they do it.
