To ask for another Dr's appointment?

I saw a GP last week for ongoing abdominal pain (it's been going on over a year, lower right side abdominal ranging from a little nagging ache to full on pain where I thought I was having appendicitis) and pain in my back just under the ribs on the right hand side. If I press on one precise area I scream in pain, it's a very small area of pain but oh so sore when pressed. This back pain has been on and off for about 2 years but never more than the odd twinge from it.

That Dr tested my urine and said it showed infection so gave me an antibiotic to clear it up. I've no signs of any urinary infection, no pain when peeing etc but she said to come back after a week if no improvement.

It's not been a week yet but nothing feels better (back is worse) and now my mind is in overdrive about why I've had so much persistent pain for so long. I did have a scan for gallstones last year after going to see the GP about the abdominal pain but it showed a bit of fatty liver and nothing else.

So my AIBU is whether to go back before the week is out as the pain is present and by the time I get a appointment next week it would be hit or miss as to whether the pain would be still there but I am positive it will flare up again whether that would be a few days or weeks. I just want them to figure out what is going on and I am now really anxious and I don't even know if the front pain is even related to the back pain? (I don't have a sore back as in my back aches....just this one spot under my ribs and thats it....it's very precise).

YABU wait until the full week of antibiotics is over

or

YANBU the antibiotics have done nothing at all and the pain is persistent?

Yes, go back and keep badgering them.

I am afraid they would ask why I was back when the course of antibiotics isn't finished yet but just think there is something else going on and the more I think about it the more panicked I get. Silly really but after putting off going to the Drs with indigestion a few years back and ending up in A&E with a pulmonary embolism, I do seem to have developed some health anxiety and maybe worry too much these days.

The doctor said go back after a week if no improvement. They didn't tell you what to do if it got worse.

Is there another doctor at the practice? Sometimes it helps to see someone different.

We have a long bank holiday weekend coming up - honestly, I wouldn't wait.

Yes it's the bank holiday which is pushing me to go ahead and ring in the morning for an appointment.

Lots of other Drs at the practice so hopefully can get another opinion and maybe start investigating what's going on.
