My partner cooked a pork belly joint and ate it all whilst I was babysitting at a neighbour's. I got back quite late, but couldn't believe it. He didn't save me even one slice! Should I ltb?!

He ate a whole pork belly joint on his own?

UnimaginativeUsername · 27/03/2018 15:44

How big was it?

MerryShitmas · 27/03/2018 15:44

That must be what, 1.2+ kilos of meat?
I'm going to say YABU because karma will get him soon enough.
I'd think he'll be having some v nasty shits!

Alison100199 · 27/03/2018 15:46

Wow. Man versus food. That's some capacity. LTB.

ZeroFuchsGiven · 27/03/2018 15:47

He will end up with a pork belly. all that fat Shock

flusteredlady · 27/03/2018 15:56

I don't know how big it was, assume enough for two people - certainly SMELT big enough for two people! He's not lardy.

PixieDust100 · 27/03/2018 16:00

Was it an actual joint of slices ? That’s a lot of meat and fat to eat in one go

honeylulu · 27/03/2018 16:01

Had it been planned as a meal for both of you?

flusteredlady · 27/03/2018 16:02

It was a joint! He had said he was ravenous...might hide the toilet paper in revenge tonight!!

OP posts:
lemony7 · 27/03/2018 16:02

Pork belly is absolutely minging. You should be pleased he removed it from your house for you!

bonnyshide · 27/03/2018 16:05

Is he at all repentant?

kubex · 27/03/2018 16:06

I can't believe he ate all a whole belly pork joint to himself Shock

I cooked 1kg of belly pork for dinner last night - fed DP and I generous portions with enough leftover for both our lunches today!

honeylulu · 27/03/2018 16:10

What I was getting at was had you or he got it to cook for both of you and therefore your expectation was that you would come home to a nice cooked meal and there was nothing? I think that is what I would find really U! But also very greedy if that's what you are asking.

My dad used to do things like that. Some nights we'd all be coming in and going out at different and mum would prepare dinner and leave it in the oven for us to help ourselves to a portion ( there was me, sister, dad and mum who was usually home last) . Usually worked well except when it was something my dad really fancied and he would just eat the whole lot - four portions worth, and then claim he was "just hungry" and had "forgotten that it was meant to be shared". Grrr makes me cross just thinking about it!

UnimaginativeUsername · 27/03/2018 16:14

I was just wondering if it was an abnormally tiny pork belly joint. Even then, you’d think he’d leave you some.

Inertia · 27/03/2018 16:21

Had it been planned as a dinner for both of you? If the plan was always to share the meal then it's really mean of him to eat the lot. He could always have filled up with bread or potatoes if he felt ravenous.

If you told him not to save you any dinner then I guess it's fair enough.

SillyLittleBiscuit · 27/03/2018 16:26

A small joint I guess would be 500g. That's around 2,500 calories. Bit grim - although I do love pork belly.

I'd be pissed off if it was my dinner.

flusteredlady · 27/03/2018 16:27

He was not repentant and thought it was funny when I confronted him he n the morning. I had grabbed something earlier in the day with the kids as I knew I'd be babysitting. I'd said to him that we could have the pork belly the next day instead (meal planning is alien in our house). He put it on anyway and said he didn't think it would be an issue as he could buy another one the next day. I understand this, but in the same way as if I say "no" to chips and expect to nick one, I'm greedy and after babysitting kids that stay up quite late, was going to have a cheeky slice when I got in. He should have known this!

HangtheblessedDJ · 27/03/2018 16:32

What? A whole joint? Meat sweats await him. Karma's a bitch.

AintNobodyHereButUsChickens · 27/03/2018 17:01

Now I want pork belly :(

flusteredlady · 27/03/2018 17:39

He's a better cook than me so I probably won't ltb. I love him too which helps a little bit (although clearly love him a lot less now)!

OP posts:
puddleduckmummy · 27/03/2018 17:44

God @honeylulu your dad sounds like a right selfish prat. Eating a whole family's food and not leaving anything for the kids or even his wife who cooked it? That's made me really cross on your behalf! There's just no need!

Creambun2 · 27/03/2018 17:48

next post "my DH has had a heart attack"

PoisonousSmurf · 27/03/2018 17:50

Boak!

ChelleDawg2020 · 27/03/2018 18:08

I don't think a "standard" sized joint is an unreasonable amount for one person to eat, especially once you've picked the worst bits off (and there are a lot of those).

Ex daughter of a pig farmer here. Yanbu. LTB.
