to ask how late you can drop a GCSE and Not be marked as a Fail?

DD art exam is in early May... she is way behind and we may need to drop it so she can focus time on revising for other GCSEs... Am I right in thinking she can pull out right until the day of the exam WITHOUT it going down as a Fail... i.e. she just appears to take the other 9 GCSEs and is marked in those?

What did the school tell you when you asked them?

If you post on Secondary Education I'm sure someone there will know for definite. You may need to pay the exam entry fee as the later things are altered the more expensive it gets, I think.

We don't want to ask the school at the moment as we're trying to get them to support her better in doing the work! But want this as a fall back if she gets too stressed mid holidays and we just say pull the plug.... and I will post in Secondary but hoped I would get a quicker answer here, as if no one knows, I will ask the school tomorrow - last day of term!

It used to be up until the day of the exam as long as the school agreed to not enter her (so it doesn't appear that she just missed the exam). There might be a charge for this for the exam, as the school will have paid it. It cost £35 for us, I think.

That's all from memory because I didn't drop any personally; but I hope it helps!
