How do you dress your babies today?

What should my 6 week old baby wear in this weather? Gloves?Cotton or merino hat? Jacket or just a velour baby gro and a blanket? I'm in London and it looks lovely outside but don't want to underdress him - first time mum here.

i don’t know if they still do it, but the general rule used to be one more layer than you’re wearing. even though it’s sunny, it’s not really warm - out and about yesterday i saw babies still in snowsuits, especially if there’s a breeze.

PrettyLittIeThing · 26/03/2018 12:26

My baby was in a snow suit this morning and I'm in London as I think it's still cold, she has abit of a cold anyway so still want her to he warm. She will be wearing it again later for the school run. (She's 10 months)

childmindingmumof3 · 26/03/2018 12:27

Mine would be in vest, tights, baby grow and a pramsuit.

PrettyLittIeThing · 26/03/2018 12:27

Just to add she didnt have a hat on as she's at that age where she keeps taken it off but I would on a smaller baby.

goose1964 · 26/03/2018 12:46

With difficulty 😂 yesterday DGS wore a long sleeve t-shirt and coat. He is a year old and a very warm boy

Nightfall1983 · 26/03/2018 12:50

Short sleeved vest, baby gro, cardi. Gloves, preferably built into the baby gro but otherwise separate. Blanket over legs. Hat. Also London.

KerplunkChampion · 26/03/2018 12:54

Vest, t shirt, jumper dress, tights (inside), snowsuit on top outside as it's really cold if you're not moving

Goldleaf76 · 26/03/2018 12:59

Thank you very much. Yes, I saw lots of babies in pramsuits and warm hats yesterday but I was hot myself and so was my baby when we got back in.

Been on a walk with 16 week baby in a carrier (so some shared body heat). He's wearing a vest, two pairs of leggings (outside pair a bit thicker with feet), long sleeved cotton top, knitted cardigan and hat.

prettygirlincrimsonrose · 26/03/2018 14:28

Sorry, I'm inYorkshire so that's not particularly helpful. Go with what you think and have an extra blanket under the pram, knowing you have another layer available can help you feel better when you're worrying.

MagicFajita · 26/03/2018 14:31

I'm London too , in this weather ds wears a vest , sleepsuit , jacket , hat and mittens. He's in his cosy toes with a light fleece blanket tucked under his arms.

MrsMonkeyBear · 26/03/2018 14:56

We're near Edinburgh and DD2 (5m) has been wearing a vest, leggings, t-shirt, cardi and hat whilst out in the sling. I have a coat that goes over the both of us that is really warm, so anything more than that and she'd be too hot.

Mammyloveswine · 26/03/2018 15:50

I have an 11 week old... today he has a long sleeve vest, footless romper with hood, socks and soft pram shoes (just to keep his feet warm) and i just put his hood up. I popped a cardigan on him and a light blanket. He goes underneath ds in the double pram in a new born "snug" so was cosy. I prefer layering up rather than using snowsuits etc as they be roasting! Im in the North east and have leggings, wrap dress and leather jacket and i was just comfortable when out and about

Tartsamazeballs · 26/03/2018 16:15

6 week old, probably a vest, sleep suit, hat and a morrck blanket or pramsuit/blanket.

I went out in jeans, vest top and hoody.

PalePinkSwan · 26/03/2018 16:21

Generally one layer more than you’re wearing.

I’m in London and today baby is wearing thin knitted hat, padded jacket with hood, long sleeved top, vest, jersey trousers, plus a thin fleece blanket in the buggy.
