That my boss constantly undermines me

I am newish manager of a struggling department brought in to turn things around. I have plenty of ideas for budget cutting, increasing sales etc etc. I've absolutely thought of everything. I've been there twelve months and if I could have been left to get all my ideas in place, things would be very different right now. As it is we are on deaths door and almost at the bottom of the slippery slope.

The main reason is I have been blocked off from nearly all my improvements by my boss. Every idea I have had they gave either had a reason why they don't want to do it ie no advertising as we would seem desperate etc.

I have had meeting after meeting discussing the issues and my boss has agreed to get out of my way and let me manage but the very next day I come in to find something else has been done without my knowledge. Things have been agreed, someone has been given permission to buy something or do something or boss has been off and bought something else we don't need.

I am at my wits end, I love my job to bits but just how can I carry on like this. I guess the answer is the business will fail and everyone will be looking at me for answers and they will all think I haven't done my job not realising my hands are tied.

Do I get out now, this is causing me huge upset as to see this wonderful company go down the drain when it doesn't have to is heartbreaking. I love my job and the company. :(

Do they own the company? Can you go ti someone higher with your ideas?

If your boss is the owner, then you are on to a loser then. They won't change their ways, as that would be admitting to themselves that they are wrong, and bosses don't like doing that.

Been there, done that, tried really hard to get them to see sense, watched their business go down the pan. Twice.
The first time I stayed till the bitter end, the second time I walked out in disgust about 6 weeks before they folded.
It is so frustrating, isn't it?

Look for a new job.

No two words at the end of the day its their company and thy feel they can do as they please and they will as they are still too involved. Move on and let it go you have done what you can.

If he's the owner, fuck him and move on. Why should you fight for the right to earn more money for someone who doesn't value you? Why the hell would you want to?
