My sisters husband downsized from a 3 bed to a one bed once all his kids had left, I guess with the bedroom tax there will be people wanting to reduce their bedrooms.

PippilottaLongstocking · 24/03/2018 17:07

People who need to downsize because their kids have moved out/they can't afford a two bed anymore maybe

I thought homeswapper was only for council/housing association but I might be thinking about a different site

Byebyebye · 24/03/2018 17:07

Uhhh one person or couple living in the two bed having their housing benefit reduced because of under occupancy?

CatStacks · 24/03/2018 17:08

oh I didn't think of that

How does it actually work?

CatStacks · 24/03/2018 17:53

you swap tenancy with each other and flats

From my experience HAs are fucking awful. I don't blame anyone for not wanting them as landlords ( no heating for a year etc)

SilverDragonfly1 · 24/03/2018 18:13

Council rents still tend to be lower than HA rents- some HA rents are ridiculously high, certainly in London.

MyDcAreMarvel · 24/03/2018 18:19

Any one swapping to your HA will not have right to buy only right to acquire max £16 k discount.

My cousin went from a three bedroom flat to a five bedroom house with garden. My friend went from a one bedroom flat to a two bedroom house. It happens as long as the bigger home is not underoccupied.

Itsallamysterytome · 24/03/2018 18:36

When my mum wanted to move from a 3 bedroom house to a flat near me I used this site. I was instantly inundated with people wanting the house. I was quite unnerved with how determined they were. Message after message, demanding viewings etc. I wasn't ready for that I must admit.

TheHungryDonkey · 24/03/2018 18:42

I thought the point of it was it is for council and HA homes. I’m on it but surprisingly, no one wants to swap a 3 bed house or flat for a 2 bed flat in Shitsville.
