My dp very kindly got me a dishwasher but as my rented house dosnt have the right plumbing then i asked the landlord's handyman if he could do it.

Landlord happy for me to do it. i paid for it . Handyman said he could easily do it.

Except it has been awful. He arrived late for job then couldnt get the right parts as shop was shut due to leak .halfway though he said he wished he hadnt taken job on as the plumbing was dodgy in first place.

We thought he'd done it but there was a small leak. He came bk and tightened things up.. still leak.
He fixed it again...

however now my dishwasher and washing nachine are not draining...it's a bad job

I was stupid and paid him upfront so he could get parts...could i ask for some bk? Im annoyed that he did a job that's out of his depth.

Oh yes...and handyman and dp spent a few hours today faffing around with a resolution...none of them have a clue of course...
Handyman did various things and we put both on a cycle....still not draining.

Can’t you just get the landlord to sort out the dodgy plumbing
Aside from that it’s not really the handy mans fault

I think it is as both appliances were draining fine before they were tinkered around withxx

He's just a handyman

You need a proper plumber I think

malificent7 · 24/03/2018 19:17

yup...agreed plumber ...my stupid fault!

If he bought parts that were actually needed, and will be used by the plumber who fixes it then you can't really get that money back but whatever you paid him for his time, I'd be asking for a refund - approach your landlord about it if the handyman is refusing, since he gets regular work from him the landlord might have more sway.
He agreed to a job he couldn't do, and should bit have taken your money.
