These boots ain't made for walking.....

I bought some Rocket Dog boots from Amazon in November. I have worn them quite a lot, but not in the rain or snow. This is what they look like now. So AIBU to expect boots to last longer? And what can I do? Rocket Dog say that as they were bought from a third party they can't help. (But their boots are normally made to last a lifetime!) What brand boots do you recommend?

Seriously just contact Amazon, I bet money that they will give you a refund that you can spend on sturdier shoes.

That is utterly crap, I would definitely contact the seller. Having said That, Rocket Dog are synthetic which is why you've got the peeling effect, I don't think synthetic footwear lasts.

Go for leather next time (unless you're a vegan).

Also go for boots with a stitched some rather than glued, glued soles on boots don't have much longevity due the conditions they tend to be worn in.

Mine where the same. Instead of one thick material they were more of a thin laminate layer that split as I spend so much time bending. The damage was all at the bend of the toes. I think if I had took them off indoors they would of lasted longer.

You need a special kind of shoe for working with children. I had school shoes, so the toe could get worn and I could kneel on the floor without zips digging in my ankles. If I forgot and wore normal shoes, I'd slip them off at the start of the day and potter around barefoot.

I'd second Uggs and Timberlands for being practically indestructible (usual caveats re suitable water protection sprays, weather conditions, etc. apply)

Have a look on Shoeaholics for pretty good deals on Uggs and Kurt Geiger boots now it's getting to spring time (allegedly!).

My all time faves are the Fly London Mes 2 boots. So comfy and really good quality. They lasted me 3 years and I wore them everyday in winter and autumn, in the end I’d worn through the sole so had to chuck them out. I have larger than average calves too and had no problem with these.

I’m impressed your Flys lasted that long! I buy them Often but walk holes in the soles within 5 months.

I thought they were pink, but upon further inspection I see they are brown. I've only ever had Rocket Dog flip flops, & they last, & are so comfy. The only problem is that they stink when you wear them in a hot country, but they do wash well, & they are so slippy.

I'll second the Fly boot, although I returned my first pair as they leaked. I was told they weren't waterproof, £100 (I bartered for them) & not waterfproof! I've had the Mes 3 fur lined for about 3 years now, but they are looking a bit rough now.
