Hi moving into new place and one of the houses in new street has a sofa sitting out the front and from what I can see it looks fairly good and I can't pluck up the courage to ask them if try getting rid of it.
I am short on money and need a sofa am I pathetic or not.

Well it's out the front because they don't want it... Just ask

Spicylolly · 22/03/2018 10:45

Not at all, just ask them. Something nasty might of been spilt on it or they just couldn't sell it and have bought a new one.....always worth asking or it may well just end up in the dump.

Strugglingtodomybest · 22/03/2018 10:46

If I were them, I'd be grateful if someone took it away for me. Go on, be brave and ask, you'll feel good after!

NeedMoreSleepOrSugar · 22/03/2018 10:50

Definitely ask! I did similar with a carpet years ago, hoping it would be good enough to do us a year or so until we could afford a new one. it was so good we still had it when we moved out about ten years later!

Ask them. On our local fb selling groups there’s always people trying to either sell or give away when they don’t sell.

If I have stuff I’m giving away for free, I’ve left it outside my front door for people to collect.

Well done, what a great way to meet the neighbours - a thank you card a small token wine/chocs/flowers would be a nice gesture.

FizzyGreenWater · 22/03/2018 12:56

Yay!

I'm all for reuse and recycling - well done!
