Would this piss you off

I work in a male dominated industry. Every time I mention someone new at my work (we have just got a new member in my immediate team) my dh in a jokey way asks if they are “fit” or a “hunk”. It really pisses me off. The newest guy isn’t. But even if he was why would it matter? My dh works with young girls half his age and I don’t worry about if they are attractive! I know he trusts me so I don’t know why he says it, or why it pisses me off so much but it just does! Just having a rant really I know IANBU.

Surely he's just poking fun at you or alternatively fishing for compliments.

InDubiousBattle · 21/03/2018 16:04

Yeah YAB a bit U. Your dh is feeling insecure and seeking reassurance. Either give him it or try and address the reason that he needs it.

PeapodBurgundy · 21/03/2018 16:04

It wouldn't bother me, but there are many small things that irritate me no end that likely only bother me, so no, YANBU. Have you told him it irritates you?

Greenyogagirl · 21/03/2018 16:05

If it’s every time that would piss me off too

LastOneDancing · 21/03/2018 16:08

What happens if you say 'he is quite fit actually'?

Yeah I think it would get in my nerves to. Insecurity is never an attractive trait.

RebelRebel79 · 21/03/2018 17:20

Thanks for replies - given me pause for thought actually. it’s the implication (maybe i am projecting) that I would do something if they were fit which annoys me so much.

His insecurity probably stems from when we got together as we were a bit on and off at the beginning. However after more than 10 years and 3 dc together I would have hoped he knows he’s the only one I’m interested in. We obviously need to work on this tho

Next time just say ‘why are you so interested, do you want me to pass your number along?’

sparklepops123 · 21/03/2018 17:27

Do it back to him
