to be upset because DS has obviously not been invited to a party along with all his other nursery class? I want to cry.

No you are not being unreasonable, I would be upset too.

Happened to my DS1 when he was 3 ( hallowe'en party)and I did cry. Don't know what to say to help - DS1 kept asking me if he could go too and I just pretended to him we were busy that day and invent a reason we had to be somewhere else. At that age the kids won't be aware that he wasn't invited and when their in school next day and mention it he can tell 'em about his trip to the cinema or whatever.
