Is it U to make a child return to the toilet to clean up their own wee? If so, at what age would you do this?

I think as young as you like as long as you're kind about it.

"Oops! There's a wee on the seat. Clean it up quickly so it's nice for the next person."

From about age 3/4 but I'm still having to tell my 10 year old now! Not on the floor but on the seat.

threeelephants · 19/03/2018 21:16

Mine have done this since around age 3, as soon as they started to see standing up. It was just part of it...finish, check seat for drips, wipe with tissue, flush, wash hands. If I find a mess they'll be sent back, but it's rare cos they're in good habits.

Toilet troll, folks.

Cleanermaidcook · 19/03/2018 21:19

Since they started to use the toilet, cleaning up after yourself is part of going. I do still have to remind ds (8) occasionally and dh 49

If the child is a boy, I have to tell you now, this will happen forever.

Not a puddle, but little splashes and dots of wee all around the loo, only visible at a certain angle when the lights are on. Scientific studies have been done on the splashback effect (yes, really!), I've seen a video on Youtube, and it's hideous.

There are 4 males in our household, so I never know the culprit. Dettox is my friend.

Haha toilet troll 😂 if it strikes again then I'm done with MN tonight.

hubbabubbanightmare · 19/03/2018 21:23

Nope not any sort of troll

No details asked for - just do you tell them or do it for them

Depends how desperate for a wee I am... 😂

Fudgesauce · 19/03/2018 21:32

I make my nearly 9 year old nephew clean up if he has weed on the seat. Funny thing is he only did once or twice and now never wees on my toilet seat. He still wees everywhere at home though!!

hubbabubbanightmare · 19/03/2018 22:10

thanks everyone - just checking I wasn't the weirdo I was made out to be by an annoying man!

I will add, my DH never, ever leaves the toilet in a mess, but I know lots of men who do.
If the adult males in the house treat hygiene as optional, then so will the little boys.
My boys are used to walking into a clean toilet, so keeping it that way is automatic.

hubbabubbanightmare · 19/03/2018 22:22

One of my BF's partner always pees on the floor. DH told him last time he stayed Grin
