To take the drink?

Went for a coffee in between appointments at work, in a cafe in the local supermarket. It’s like a self service area for drinks so I filled my tea pot and waited for someone to appear so I could pay. I waited a fair while when a man from the cafe came to get another drink and said “you’ve been waiting 10 minutes just take it” and he walked off with his 2 drinks. If I waited much longer my drink would be cold but I didn’t want to ‘steal it’ so I left the exact change on the till and went and sat down.

The whole time I was in the cafe (25 mins) no staff were at the serving area or nearby.

As I left a member of staff walked in so I let her know if left the money and she went crazy at me telling me I shouldn’t help myself to things and I as rude.

WIBU not to wait for someone to serve me?

You shouldn't help yourself to things in the self service area? Sounds like she was the one being rude!

And no, I don't think you were unreasonable not to wait.

I would be complaining about the attitude of the staff and the lack of service! Very poor.

You didn't go behind the till and steal her personal tea supply, it's self service! Dumbass!
