I've been in bed with flu since Wed night I'm a 1:1 ta and rang the head Wed night to say I wouldn't be in Thurs but hopefully would be better Fri. Fri I rang to say I should be in Monday I've hardly been out of bed since Wed. I need to ring the head again and tell her I'm still not well. I've never had a day off sick before and feel like I'm letting people down. Not sure what to say to her

Just tell the truth don't make a big deal out of it. You are genuinely ill so don't worry about it. Just don't make any further promises "I am ill I'm in bed I have flu I'll let you know when I feel better and will be in" rather than "I'm ill today I might be in tomorrow". Take care of yourself feel better soon

I know how you feel. I had my first days off sick in 7 years last week and I felt awful as I’m a year 6 teacher and Sats are looming. However I really was sick and have covered for umpteen sick days for colleagues so I view it as having the favour paid back.
Don’t go back till you are better, it really helps no one.
