It's total madness isn't it?

Yes it is.

summercat · 17/03/2018 23:16

Crazy. Especially as Bournemouth is an over-rated shit tip.

HolyShmoly · 17/03/2018 23:25

More than twice the cost of my 3 bed house. Granted, we're not on the beach, but holy fuck.
Are they legally allowed to be treated as a residence or are they only ever a hut for possible overnight stays?

NeverTwerkNaked · 17/03/2018 23:25

Ridiculous.

Hobbes8 · 17/03/2018 23:26

I've never thought of Bournemouth as a particularly expensive part of the U.K. Is there something madly expensive about Mudeford? Is it near Poole?

It's not quite worth more than my house, but it's worth more than I paid for my house a few years ago, and you can see a similar stretch of sea from my dining room. Madness.

missiondecision · 17/03/2018 23:32

Start making beach huts, pronto !

ObiJuanKenobi · 17/03/2018 23:41

@Hobbes8 I live in mudeford and am an estate agent in Poole, it's about 10 miles but the markets are quite different. And even if Bournemouth is a shit pit, Mudeford is in Christchurch.

ObiJuanKenobi · 17/03/2018 23:44

The beach huts are at the end of the sand spit at hengistbury head which is rather beautiful in itself!

ObiJuanKenobi · 17/03/2018 23:45

I meant to upload a photo

You could buy my house and the one next door and have enough left over to buy a campervan for the beach.

thecraftyfox · 18/03/2018 01:01

My sister lives in Mudeford. It is rather lovely and Christchurch is very pretty. But the beach huts are just wooden huts, fairly close together with communal toilets and showers plus crowds of people walking past and a pain in the rear to get your stuff down from the car park to hut. The views are great but I couldn't bear to be around that many people in the summer. It's really quite packed.

Xocaraic · 18/03/2018 01:13

Crazy Especially given that with global warming, they may well be under water in a few yers 😕

summercat · 18/03/2018 13:57

Nice pic of the beach up there ^ Wink

This is also Bournemouth.

<

Full of 10's of 1000's of students, entire sections of the town (half a mile away from the beach) that are covered in litter, and crap, and tacky shops, and takeaways, and groups of yoooves hanging about. And let's not even TALK about the rough sleepers/homeless people. You cannot walk for more than 5 minutes in Bournemouth(in the less expensive areas!) without tripping over someone sleeping in a doorway!

The only 'nice' parts are the ones where it costs seven figures to buy a house.

Thanks for that @summercat perhaps that's why beach huts in Bournemouth are more like 50,000.. shall we get back to discussing the one in the OP that's not in Bournemouth?

HolyShmoly · 18/03/2018 16:20

Do beach huts rarely come up for sale? Would that be part of it?

FithColumnist · 18/03/2018 16:25

HolyShmoly Basically, that's about it. There's not many of them on Mudeford Spit and it is (for reasons which are entirely beyond me) a very desirable location to have a beach hut. That said, even bog standard beach huts along Bournemouth and Poole's beach are ludicrously expensive. I've never understood the urge to go to the beach and essentially sit outside a shed all day, but it's amazing what some people will pay for.
