Hi

Hubby and I have a dilema.

He wants the fruit bowl on the dining table.

I always thought it was common. We currently have it on a side table.

Please be gentle with me.....Grin

Pauline Fowler in Eastenders always had hers on the table.
Good enough for ole' Pauline , good enough for me !

Ours is on the coffee table, probably common as muck....

It should be on the kitchen table. The dining table should have silverware and candelabra only.

Trills · 16/03/2018 15:44

If you were a proper family who ate every meal at the table, you'd find moving it three times a day too much of a hassle.

A fruit bowl on the dining room table therefore indicates that you eat most of your meals in front of the TV and is obviously a sign of being lower-class.

It's all bollocks, put it wherever is most convenient you silly billies

ToastyFingers · 16/03/2018 15:44

Ours moves between the dining table and the kitchen table, depending on what's in it.

Lonecatwithkitten · 16/03/2018 15:45

In current house it is on dining table, in last house it was on kitchen island. My parents have theirs in the conservatory. No idea what any of that indicates.

Trinity66 · 16/03/2018 15:45

Ours is on the kitchen counter

UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername · 16/03/2018 15:45

Ours is on the worktop in the kitchen, taking up valuable space, and is almost entirely made of of stunt fruit as none of us actually eats it. I don't know why DH keeps buying fruit...

AlonsoTigerHeart · 16/03/2018 15:45

Whats wrong with being common?

Dementedswan · 16/03/2018 15:45

My fruit bowl lives on the kitchen bench. My parent always kept theirs there or on the kitchen table.

senua · 16/03/2018 15:46

Hubby?

Celebelly · 16/03/2018 15:46

Ours is on the table - it's a big table and only two of us so no need to move it for us to eat at the table every night.

MrsMotherHen · 16/03/2018 15:47

ours was on the table until our toddler would scream nananaaaa 3 times a day for some bananas. So it lives on the worktop now.

fourquenelles · 16/03/2018 15:48

Mine's on top of the microwave in the kitchen -old hippy--

SweetMoon · 16/03/2018 15:48

It would get annoying keep moving it from the dining table, so side table much more practical.

Always dining room for us, DH always moves it away during dinner though, he should leave it be.

FluffyWuffy100 · 16/03/2018 15:53

It should be on the kitchen island, where my mum has it :-)

Cambionome · 16/03/2018 15:54

You use the word "hubby" and you are worried that your fruit bowl makes you look common?

NerNerNerNerBATMAN · 16/03/2018 15:55

Dining table here, and we're resolutely MC. It's at the side of a big table so it never gets in the way. Literally nowhere else to put it!

IwantedtobeEmmaPeel · 16/03/2018 15:55

At various properties I have lived in I have kept mine on the dining room table, in the kitchen and now in the utility room - as it is cooler so I think the fruit lasts longer. You really are allowed to keep it where you like, no one will judge you, honestly.

BunsforTea · 16/03/2018 15:57

Well, my family actually do eat every meal at the table, but we don't find moving the fruit bowl three times a day too much of a hassle as the table is large enough to accommodate both the fruit bowl and the four of us eating. It is also handy when we have fruit for pudding, which we frequently do.

If we have guests, however, the fruit bowl is temporarily moved elsewhere.

It has never occurred to me to fret about it.

YerStatuesExceedinglyBare · 16/03/2018 15:58

I heard Nigella opine that mixed fruit in a bowl was not the done thing anyway.

Artistically arranged bowl/ plate/ wooden board of mono variety may be the way to go?

(We've got a mixed bowl in the kitchen but if I was pushed for counter space I'd be happy to see it on the dining table. We are common so sharing tgat doesn't help, I know.)

Bloomin' heck, I haven't good room for four bowls!
