To think H&M are anti British?

A lighthearted AIBU.

So yesterday I bought this lovely tee shirt in H&M for my DS. When I got home however I noticed that they appear to have left the UK off the map of the world! Lots of detail of the outline of Denmark and Greece but no U.K (or Eire)

Just wondering if this is a sign of what's to come with Brexit?! Being left off by a European company? I've checked online and they are all the same so i don't have a duff one. DS asked where we live and I had to explain it wasn't on it. DH thinks I should take it back and get a refund!!

How odd!

sidewayswithatescotrolley · 16/03/2018 10:48

Not surprised they left the UK off, but where is Ireland (fyi, its not Eire unless you are speaking in Irish)

Kpo58 · 16/03/2018 10:49

The effects of Brexit are already here! Shock

JCo24 · 16/03/2018 10:53

There are so many countries missing... Who the hell designed that and did they even consult a map?? Hmm

BrazzleDazzleDay · 16/03/2018 11:01

They are a bizarre shop. I've just noticed that despite being the same size from h&m that ds clothes are much bigger than dd's

I also don't see Iceland, Ireland, Malta, Sicily, Majorca, Guernsey.... Need I go on?

For whatever reason they've omitted all the islands, hardly anti-British.

maxiflump1 · 16/03/2018 11:07

I get your point @LostInShoebiz but the U.K. and Ireland are considerably larger islands that the others you mentioned and this t shirt was being marketed and sold here and not on those other islands.

I have absolutely no doubt you'll fine that item on sale across Europe. And I have absolutely no doubt there is not a thread on Mamansnet bemoaning the lack of Corsica.

If you were really so concerned about the lack of Ireland you would probably have flagged that from the start and not highlighted any spurious link to Brexit (for which, I'm sure you are aware, Ireland has not shown any significant enthusiasm).

maxiflump1 · 16/03/2018 11:16

I said from the beginning lightheaded! Maybe I shouldn't have posted in AIBU though I guess....

Dowser · 16/03/2018 11:17

Now if I’d read that article yesterday I could have looked in the big h and m up on the road on Tenerife for the t shirt.

Johnnycomelately1 · 16/03/2018 11:40

Probably cost related. Costs more to put more white objects onto the background

WazFlimFlam · 16/03/2018 11:44

Jesus Christ Showbiz, it's posters like you that are the reason MN has been ruined by the need to post 'lighthearted' on anything and everything.

ALittleAubergine · 16/03/2018 11:45

That's a bit of a mistake!!!

AuldAlliance · 16/03/2018 12:06

And I have absolutely no doubt there is not a thread on Mamansnet bemoaning the lack of Corsica.
They'd not bother moaning online, they'd take some more drastic action...

GrannyGrissle · 16/03/2018 12:12

H&M are shit and their sizes are completely random. YABU shopping there.

stressedoutfred · 16/03/2018 13:37

@BrazzleDazzleDay , would you not expect boys clothes to be bigger than girls? Different styles/cuts?

Idontbelieveinthemoon · 16/03/2018 13:41

H&M are shit and their sizes are completely random. YABU shopping there.

Yes! I went in last month feeling great after losing 3 stone and being in a firm 10 in every shop in the world. Picked up a dress, tried it on, it was tiny. Picked up a 12, still too tiny. 14, too tiny. 16. Size 16 fitted. I was a bloody 16 3 stone ago.

But jumpers I can buy in an extra small. The clothes makers at H&M are drunk goblins.

BrazzleDazzleDay · 16/03/2018 13:42

Eh no I wouldn't stressed. I would expect a 3-4 or 2-4 of the same items but different colours to be the same size

stressedoutfred · 16/03/2018 16:05

Ah sorry @BrazzleDazzleDay I think I misunderstood what you meant !

MabantoMoonface · 16/03/2018 16:20

Obviously this has fallen through a wormhole from next year and shows the map after the Russians have obliterated us. Ireland clearly is collateral damage.

BrazzleDazzleDay · 16/03/2018 16:24

No worries stressed

mabanto Shock

sidewayswithatescotrolley · 16/03/2018 16:39

would you not expect boys clothes to be bigger than girls?

No. why would you?

soulrider · 16/03/2018 17:00

I like that T-shirt despite the inaccuracy but cannot find it on their site. Do you have a link?

maxiflump1 · 16/03/2018 18:19

Well this is spooky @soulrider! Just gone on their website to find it but it's not there. It was last night! I have a 2-4 year old still with tags going Wink

As I've already explained @sidewayswithatescotrolley , I misunderstood what the PP meant.
