For the past 2 years I play bingo once a month normally spending max20 pounds. I’m getting a mortgage this week with my partner and they want copy of bank statements will this effect them. I’m so worried about it my mum is also helping out and I don’t want her finding out.

£20 a month? What exactly is it you're worried about?

DannyLaRuesBestFrock · 16/03/2018 09:42

Well I doubt it seeming I spend more than that on wine per month.

I can't see how it will have any effect if it's only £20 pm.

Ok few I juts heard that they turn people down because of it

As long as you're not spending excessive amounts compared to your income it shouldn't. And 20 quid isn't a massive amount.
Are you more worried about your partner and mum finding out and asking you about it?

We saw a mortgage advisor who told us a lady was turned down because of spending money on online bingo and it being gambling. However the mortgage broker we used in the end laughed when I told him and said he’d never heard of that happening so who knows 🤷‍♀️

I do know someone who was refused a mortgage due to gambling but they were spending hundreds a month

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 16/03/2018 09:56

I would think it depends on how much someone was spending surely. If it was hundreds of pounds every single month then this would be factored in the overall out goings but I doubt very much that £20 a month will have any impact. I spend more than that on takeaway coffees!

£20 a month isn't a gambling problem, it's a gambling habit and the two are different.

However

I know a few people who say they only spend £20 a month on online gambling and they're all lying - so are you lying to yourself?
