Why do some people not see you in a car?

Have you ever noticed that some people just seem to never see others including best mates ...when you are sitting behind the windscreen? It's really really weird!

Cos the glass becomes one-way with the light, like a fishbowl?

ShinyMe · 15/03/2018 19:21

It's really tricky sometimes to see into a car when you're outside it! It drives me up the wall when I'm driving and I realise other drivers are waving their arms around to gesture that I can pull in - if the light's at the wrong angle or your windows are a bit tinted, or you know I'M LOOKING AT CARS AND THE ROAD RATHER THAN INSIDE YOUR CAR then I can't bloody see you pointing at me.

brownelephant · 15/03/2018 19:21

maybe they are concentrating on the traffic hopeful

TroysMammy · 15/03/2018 19:23

My car has a button to make it invisible. Or may be there's a load of arseholes on the road who take risks. If I caused an accident it would spoil my day but these dickheads don't seem to care.

No. I'm talking all manner of situations. But the weirdest is if you are stationary in your vehicle, sitting there, broad daylight.....it's like some people have a kind of in-car blindness. I've noticed a lot of people suffer with it.

I don't recognise cars or pay much attention to them other than making sure I don't get hit by one. My friend always moans she's beeped at me and I haven't seen her. I'm not sure how I could! She's going much faster than me, I had no reason to expect to see her, and the sun is reflecting off of her windscreen.

LeighaJ · 15/03/2018 19:31

I rarely ever try to look inside at other people in their cars whether I'm in a car or walking, I'm usually focused on things related to safety.

I'd honestly find it rather creepy if I noticed someone was staring at me in my car.

Tinkobell · 15/03/2018 19:31

Recently, I pulled up at DS school car park - quite early. A Dad was there. He did a quick visual sweep of the carpark - seemingly no one around, before proceeding to stick hand down inside back of trousers for lengthy arse scratch. I never shook that guys hand!!! 😫

I have a photographic memory for car registrations. So I find it easy to recognise cars that belong to friends and family.
I can recall the number plate of every car I've ever owned/driven. Is that weird?

MyRelationshipIsWeird · 15/03/2018 20:25

I don't think most people would recognise you if you were in a random car, it's only because they recognise your car first, then check the reg then see that it's you! I saw my ex in a car park the other day and it was only because I checked the reg that I realised this was the guy whose eyes I'd lovingly looked into for 5 years!

FuckyDucky · 15/03/2018 20:27

neechee me too! DH tells me I’m weird.

FuckyDucky · 15/03/2018 20:29

I can remember my first car reg from 19yrs ago. Most people I know can’t recall their current one.
I used to be really good with phone numbers too before the days of mobiles.

Ladybirdbookworm · 15/03/2018 21:40

Omg this is me .....apparently I passed my DS last week driving out of our road ( she was driving in) and never noticed her waving like mad . I must have been going 5mph.
I am not the best driver so I just concentrate really hard live in a dream world

FifiVoldemortsChavvyCousin · 15/03/2018 21:45

I can’t see into cars and don’t recognise carsConfused. A form of face blindness?
