Going through a bad conjunctivitis, getting better now but the eyes are still totally red (pink eye? in your fucking dreams, it's blood red) and swollen.
Went to the shopping centre yesterday to buy something for the eyes, with my DD.
Now I know I didn't look my best. Very casually dressed (no PJs though), totally pale, eyes and the area around the eyes very red and swollen. Very alkie or drug addict, especially if you haven't slept properly for the past few days due to the pain.
I was getting all sorts of looks. Pitting, judging, accusatory. Felt almost embarrassed but hey, life doesn't stop just because you are ill.
I was almost playing with the idea of pulling out a tissue and dab at my eyes occasionally to show the real reason but I don't like being theatrical.
And no, I'm not paranoid and normally don't go around the shops feeling like people are staring at me and judging me.

Without seeing what you looked like its hard to tell why they were staring. Maybe they thought you had been crying?

@PrettyLittIeThing, no, the eyes were dry, just really really red. And yeah, it was definitely judgmental. Had similar situation when I was after a wisdom tooth extraction and my eye and cheek were covered in one huge bruise. Everybody would talk to me in sympathetic whisper and my 1 foot taller DH was getting nasty looks.
