What do you think of it?

ThoraCentisis · 14/03/2018 16:20

I think its pretty self indulgent tbh. "destroyed the economy/work until we die" bollocks, they aren't down the bloody mines or cleaning toilets most of them, they're digital marketers complaining about the price of avocadoes.

Deadwood58 · 14/03/2018 16:22

You're no better with your stupid, false generalisations.

ThoraCentisis · 14/03/2018 16:23

They are neither stupid not false. Are you claiming they are down the mines?

corythatwas · 14/03/2018 16:42

Where you live perhaps. Not where I live.

If everybody is a digital marketer, who cleans the digital marketer's office, collects his rubbish, serves his coffee, sells him his food, repairs his house, cleans his office windows, builds his new office, mends the road he travels on? Are those jobs exclusively done by elderly people?

DietCokeGirrrrrl · 14/03/2018 16:43

It's because baby boomers destroyed the economy and the environment meaning that people under 35 will now be the first generations who can't expect to be as well off or better off than their parents and will have to work until their are 70 before they can afford to retire AND will struggle to get on the property ladder. The nazi stuff is obvious (KKK marches in America, Donald trump is a white supremacist etc). And these concerns aren't taken seriously by many (not all) older people who insist that if young people would just spend less time using technology all of the above problems would disappear.

ThoraCentisis · 14/03/2018 16:46

Obvs not everyone is a digital marketer. It's the digital marketers etc that post that sort of bollocks on twitter though.

ThoraCentisis · 14/03/2018 16:48

This is only true if the first humans arrived in the 1950's, and even not then, since young people in the 1980's definitely were worse off than their parents in the 1960's. This is why its self indulgent bollocks. No concept of history, even very recent!

SilverySurfer · 14/03/2018 16:52

Verbal diarrhea about covers it.

BluthsFrozenBananas · 14/03/2018 17:06

Exactly. I remember my grandmother telling me how scared all her male friends were at the start of WW2, because they knew as young adults they would be the first called up. Her parents generation were still suffering the after effects of WW1, her father was left disabled after his time in the trenches.

I’m not saying the current young generation don’t have problems to face, but they’re not the worst off group who have ever existed either.

lostjanni · 14/03/2018 17:32

I agree that the young generation aren't the worse off but I agree some of there points.
Older people do need to realise that none of us will really be as well off as them, don't blame tech on the problems and that climate change is a big issue

Blaming the older generation is about as justifiable as the generation who grew up during Real Austerity and rationing blaming their parents or grandparents for the Depression and WW2.

Ordinary people have v little control over their own lives let alone the lives of their children in the future. A lot of the problems now are caused by the financial crash, which originated in the USA and spread world-wide. How could the Boomers have prevented that?

What's more the Boomers did a lot of things that made life better for the current generation. I can remember a time when abortion was illegal, homosexuals were put in prison and there was no equal pay, no anti-discrimination laws. Only around 10% went to university and most people left school with no qualifications at 15.

How do you know what the future holds for your generation? No one does. You just play the cards you're dealt as well as you are able and, fgs, stop whingeing.
