Calling women on TV "slut"

DH does something which really offends me. If there is a woman on TV (real person or a fictional character) and she is wearing revealing clothes or in a sex scene etc., he fairly regularly refers to them as a slut.

A recent example: 3 women interviewed on breakfast news. One was very dressed up in a revealing dress. He called her a slut. I said it annoyed me. The show then went to a video clip of the same woman breastfeeding and he thought this proved his point because "look, she's got her tits out on TV now!" ShockHmm

So AIBU to find this offensive? If not please help me communicate why it's not acceptable as I have tried and failed. I've pointed out that he doesn't say it about men (e.g.if it's a sex scene, he only calls the woman a slut). I've said I find it offensive. And that he is judging people based on looks. And also that he is showing misogynist views about female sexuality.

Any advice???

Surprised you feel the need to ask.
YANBU
He sounds delightful.

Tell him what you have put here. About how it is misogynistic and offensive. Although it doesn’t sound like it would help much if he is the type of person who thinks breastfeeding a child is “getting your tits out on TV” I honestly could not have a relationship with someone like that, he sounds disgusting. People have ended relationships over much less and you know deep down if he feels such hatred towards women on TV, he holds that same level of hatred towards you.

Butterymuffin · 10/03/2018 22:19

How does he respond when you point out that he doesn't do it to men? What about saying 'so what?' and seeing if he tries to justify it? Or you could try calling every man who ever does anything sexual a slut. Final option would be 'why are you being a dick about this, again?'

DarkStuff · 10/03/2018 22:19

Yuck.
He's showing you who he is, and what he thinks of women.
I wouldn't bother trying to persuade someone like this that they were wrong. I'd just avoid them.

Charming Hmm

Makingworkwork · 10/03/2018 22:21

I would keep questioning him ‘what makes you think she is a slut?’, ‘what do you mean by slut?’, ‘do you think people should be judged on what they wear?’ Etc in the hope you get him to see the error of his way. I can’t imagine what it would be like to have a relationship which a man who clear dislikes, judges and generally disrespects women.

Shock I would hit the fucking roof if my DP pulled this crap...

LTB

Coconuthusk · 10/03/2018 22:30

I'm sorry to say this but a man with a healthy view of women doesn't do this.

Definately ask him to justify why she's a slut. Also, agree with calling the men tramps every time they do the same.

MistressDeeCee · 10/03/2018 22:42

To be honest...I'd deem a man like that as thick. & I can't do thick. I don't respect 'basic men'. A man speaking like that wouldn't even hold sex appeal for me. How do you lay with a man who regularly calls women sluts?

He can't deal with his attraction to these women

Yep, this also. Short and simple, that's what is is. You're there hence he can't openly ogle so he has to shame them. It's a way of speaking aloud about them. It's very blatant from what you've written. It's a shame but, you're too good for him.

He wishes he could get his hands on a slut but I bet he hasn't got the balls for it so, pretend-scorn has to do.
