Went to see the nurse at my GP practise, as I have a bit of discharge and am quite smelly (vagina). I'm not in any pain and have no itching.

Nurse took a swab and said she would do my smear at the same time. It was very, very painful and she said she couldn't do my smear as I had some inflammation and she could see my cervix clearly.

Anyway, swab has come back clear, so I asked her what the next step is. She responded 'just book in for a smear and I will be gentle'. I was a bit taken aback as she is normally really good.

Anyway, there is no way I can get a smear done - no matter how gentle she is. It was just too painful.

Not sure where to go from here now, as the smell is still there and I have no idea what has caused the inflammation. I know it's not an STI - not had sex for about 6 years.

Second opinion from a doctor? Any other suggestions Ladies?

Could it be bacterial vaginosis?

I don't know what they tested for with their swab so I wouldn't rule out it being something else, it's not normal for a vagina to smell so bad and noticeably.

Book back in to see an actual doctor and explain things to them.

Poor you, that sounds horrible. Yes, I think you probably should have that looked at again by someone else. Hope it gets sorted.

Limonviola Yes it was bacterial vaginosis that I was tested for and it came back clear.

Thanks Thedaily...... It's a nightmare getting an appointment as they have open surgery where everyone rocks up at 8am and you could be waiting anything up to 3 hours. I'm going to have to book a mornings holiday and see a doctor I think.
