I'm not being unreasonable! I just need quick guidance please.

Where can I create a free or possibly cheap website for my small business?

Some say free but I'm worried about hidden costs.

Thank you.

Square space. Worth paying a little bit for the service. It’s very easy, drag and drop, plus customer service is great. And they look super professional.

I use one.com. It's free in the first year and then £30/year.

Not free, but square space is very easy to use and has gorgeous templates. It's not hugely expensive either.

Thank you all. Will have a look now!

Another vote for Square Space here, OP.
As recommended by our very savvy and IT literate 27-year old son.

MUMALLMIGHTY · 17/03/2020 13:16

have you tried co. mom? you get a free domain like yoursite. co. mom and the hostings free too, its really good. ive been making sites there a while now and really like it. good place to learn.

whatever you decide i wish you all the luck in the world :)

I use Wix for my business - loads of templates ready to go and easy enough to edit for anyone who has used Office etc before. They let you create a free site but the address will be something like
www . businessname . wix . com (spaces added to stop link generation!)

I pay about £100/year to register my own domain and them to host it i.e
www . businessname . com

So it depends what your website is for.
Are you going to be selling online? Or is it purely what we call a “brochure site”? So somewhere you will send people that you find elsewhere?

Wix is probably the easiest to use, Squarespace nicer. If you want something that will last a long time and are reasonable savvy - WordPress.

Please please though - before just building a website think about what it’s supposed to do - as this is where costs add up.
