To actually think of change

So today is national woman's day, of course I hear of, watch, read on mumsnet all about feminism, rights, and the right shade of lips to be wearing. And my god do I admire woman, and my god do I admire men.
What I wonder though while I stand here cooking the tea, after cleaning the house is whilst there's some woman who feel empowered by being photographed with hardly any clothes on, in very provocative positions with unfiltered beautiful bodies, how the hell am I meant to feel any good about myself, like I kind of don't compare. Am I being unreasonable when they say they are doing it to empower woman that actually it makes me feel a whole lot shittier?

With the best will in the world, what are you talking about, OP? What has lipstick got to do with feminism or International Women's Day or your apparently equal admiration of men, and women -- so you admire everyone? And what does any of that have to do with what some actresses/models argue for as empowerment via nudity and your own self-image? What are you actually asking?

You're blaming another Woman for how you feel about yourself when we've all internalised the standards of beauty forced upon us.

A Woman's worth/self esteem being tied into their appearance didn't happen by accident, I'm going to bring up the P Word, Patriarchy.

Thing is not to confuse forwarding a career, with any of the other stuff. Products need selling, lipstick, a career in (say) film.

From my pp, not saying that I agree with the way it is worked btw. But that is how it is worked as it seems to me.
