To shout at a cyclist

Going the wrong way down a cycle lane?

She cycled across the pedestrian traffic lights then joined the road with the cars coming towards her. I had the chance to stop at some more traffic lights and shouted at her out of the window she was going the wrong way. Just look at me blankly.

I can't see anything wrong with telling someone they are going the wrong way as presumably it creates a danger to themselves and others.

It was probably unreasonable to shout (unless you were far enough apart that you needed to raise your voice to be heard) - what's wrong with being polite, even if you think someone is being an idiot?

YANBU.

Speaking as a cyclist who recently was nearly wiped out by some muppet pootling along on the wrong side of the road.

I shouted at him too.

Are you sure though? Lots of cycle lanes go against the direction of traffic for cars if eg it’s a one way road. Or there is often a cycle path on either side of the single direction carriage way for cars, at least there is in these parts which are very cycle friendly.

When I drove the same road again this evening I noticed the cycle lane is only there for about 30m after the traffic lights. This was the point I was along side her the other side of the road, so not sure if she was going to pop back onto the pavement where she had been before she crossed the lights via the pedestrian crossing. If she hadn’t gone back on the pavement she was cycling into the traffic with no cycle lane... Crazy woman.
