Shock. I know. Sobs

Waitingonasmile · 06/03/2018 02:12

I wonder if there's a possibility of a reunion between Tom and Trixie now. Obviously after he's gone off the rails, loses his faith in God and TrIxie returns.

Rosamund1 · 06/03/2018 06:10

I cried with snot.

bluebells1 · 06/03/2018 06:16

I felt it was so unnecessary!!! Why are they doing this to all the good characters!!

DSHathawayGivesMeFannyGallops · 06/03/2018 06:21

I actually walked in around in shock yesterday, saying "I can't believe they killed Barbara".

And they teased us with false hope when she perked up a bit!! Charlotte Ritchie kept her exit really quiet. Hopefully Tom will now leave, he's such a plank. Poor Phyllis, too.

I think using her exit to raise awareness if sepsis- which still kills so many and is terrifying and below the radar, was a very positive move, though terrifying to watch.

speakout · 06/03/2018 06:29

DD and I were gutted.

Agree that Tom is a plank- Trixie had a lucky break.

speakout · 06/03/2018 06:33

I guess killing her off was the only way to allow Charlotte Ritchie to leave the series while still allowing Jack Ashton to remain.
Divorce would not have been a possible story line.

PoppyFleur · 06/03/2018 06:51

Fantastic acting by all involved, very moving, I was a snotty mess by the end of the episode.

A character has just died from Sepsis in The Archers, not sure if coincidence or if the BBC is purposely raising awareness. According to a BBC news story 44,000 people in the UK die from sepsis each year - more than breast, bowel and prostate cancer combined.

Very scary and it prompted me to look at the NHS website to understand symptoms. So if it is an awareness campaign it certainly worked on me.

TSSDNCOP · 06/03/2018 06:55

Plank is such a fabulous insult.

Bunchofdaffodils · 06/03/2018 06:56

I’m so glad I was late out of work on Sunday so missed it, then a family member let the story line slip on Facebook Monday morning. I don’t think I’ll watch it. It’s the only one I’ve missed! LOVE Tom and Barbara, such a sweet pairSad

simpson · 06/03/2018 06:56

But he is a very fit plank! Grin

CuppaSarah · 06/03/2018 06:59

This has been bothering me since I saw it. But where were her parents? They made it to the wedding, surely they could make it back to Poplar for their daughter being gravely ill. I'm sure I remember her having s good relationship with them.

I'm sure they rushed the wedding so dad could marry them before he went off to the missions or similar?

I think they went all guns blazing on death of Barbara as so many people left off screen between seasons so we didn't get their exits (and they did a crap job of writing them out with a suitable conclusion). Also it had been a few seasons since the last big dramatic regular cast death and it's the first nurse death- sister Evangelina just passed away, Alex and Lady Chumley-Brown were only support characters although they got big death storylines.

Agree that Trixie wasn't right for Tom. Far too classy and witty for the plank! Hopefully she'll go back to her lovely dentist. They'll marry Tom off again though. Perhaps Sister Winifred will follow Sister Bernadette?

thewhitechapelfatberg · 06/03/2018 07:31

@Waitingonasmile, did you know that Tom and Trixie are expecting a baby together in real life? I only just found this out.

speakout · 06/03/2018 07:35

The baby ( Ivy) was born last Autumn.
I loved watching the heavily pregnant Trixie wearing capes and hiding her bump with clipboards, she was 8 months pregnant in her last episode.

Allthewaves · 06/03/2018 07:40

I was gutted. ooow interesting about actors who play tom and trixie - did not know that

DownWentTheFlag · 06/03/2018 07:42

I am outraged about Barbara. How could they??

AvocadosBeforeMortgages · 06/03/2018 07:45

I never, ever cry at TV programmes

I cried when Barbara died 😭

sparepantsandtoothbrush · 06/03/2018 07:48

I was ok until Phyllis broke down Sad

My mum had already accidentally told me she died before I'd watched it Angry

maddiemookins16mum · 06/03/2018 08:03

I watched it in bed with DH. I had proper heartrending sobs and gulps, a real proper cry actually and still felt upset yesterday morning (ridiculous I know for a TV show). I haven't cried that much at a TV show since Hayley died on Corrie.

Vitalogy · 06/03/2018 08:03

I cried with snot. Grin Sad

HatingTheBigShow · 06/03/2018 08:05

I missed the first series or so of CTM. Cannot imagine Trixie being with Tom - he's so earnest and she's so preoccupied with fashion and hair, I can't see it at all.

Kissmycousinkate · 06/03/2018 08:09

I said to my DH they won't kill her, this is my happy Sunday watch, then they killed her....the bastards!
