Background so as to avoid a drip feed: I have 3 cats. I have a mother.

My mother phoned me today. She asked me why I posted on Facebook about my cats "presenting" themselves to me.

I didn't remember such an event.

Some gentle sleuthing confirmed o never posted such a thing. (Nor would I have reason to.)

Is my poor mother getting a little confused? Or is she trying to confuse me?

Wise Mumsnet crew, your insights would be deeply appreciated!

Why did she think you had?

mirandasings · 05/03/2018 22:22

What?! 😂🙈

nelliethenelephant · 05/03/2018 22:23

She told me she'd looked at my profile and had kept an eye on it.

She's otherwise not confused. She's young.

Admittedly she lives a little while away. I'm visiting next week. I'm a psychiatrist, but might be too close to assess objectively!

I didn't have Facebook until 2016, and had no cats until 2017!

Have you posted a photo which most animal people would see as them showing a tummy to be tickled but other non animal people would see as 'ARGH....NIPPLES/CAT-PUSSY-PENIS'?

If not then I have no idea!

OhMyGodTheyKilledKenny · 05/03/2018 22:26

Or maybe it's you losing the plot, not her Wink

nelliethenelephant · 05/03/2018 22:27

Eh, I could be!Grin

No, cat pictures all very demure.

Have you liked or commented on something that may have appeared in her newsfeed?

SomeKnobend · 05/03/2018 22:30

Any family history of early onset dementia?

nelliethenelephant · 05/03/2018 22:35

No family history of early or late onset dementia.

I'm not inclined to comment on stuff really.

My theory is that she had a dream and now Father Ted needs to help her separate it from reality.

SomeKnobend · 05/03/2018 22:41

Yes I thought dream too, especially if no other worrying signs/history. My sister has been known to make her oh apologise for things he did in her dreams, poor BIL! Grin

Rosamund1 · 05/03/2018 22:43

Maybe another Facebook of someone with the same name as you?

nelliethenelephant · 05/03/2018 22:44

@Rosamund1 I doubt it because my name is "creative". Grin

My DM gave me Earl Grey tea because she said she read I liked it on Facebook. I've never posted anything about Earl Grey but did once post a photo of a F&M tea caddy next to a cup and saucer. I love tea but hate Earl Grey.

DSHathawayGivesMeFannyGallops · 05/03/2018 22:51

Is there a photo of you with a cat coincidentally photo-bombing and walking away from the camera with a bum proudly on show? She may have noticed it and fixed on it? How odd!

nelliethenelephant · 05/03/2018 22:52

@DSHathawayGivesMeFannyGallops I love your username and that is totally possible!

I had a friend tell me about something I had posted - I was adamant I hadn't. It was a click bait thing though - I must have clicked something that posted - I couldn't see it but friends could. Maybe something like that?

nelliethenelephant · 05/03/2018 23:28

All possible. I'll keep an eye out!

Or the obvious one that everyone has missed..... your cat has posted on your behalf on your fb page.
