Am I being unreasonable in spending it with the mother in law and not slobbing at home like I want to?! I am a mother too

Send dh to her in the morning while you have a lie in - then home so he can make you a lovely lunch!

I've got my own mom to see too. So splitting ourselves. I just would have liked to have been weighted on at home

I hate mother's day . For those reasons .

@Member984815 it feels like it's just a massive rush to see everyone. So see my mom his mom and then for me to have some sort of nice day?! I know I'm sounding really selfish. Luckily he's seen sense and cancelled the suggested meal!

Ya I've done the meal with my mother in law more than once over the years. Never with my own mother. My husband has even left me alone to go see his mother , I understand she is his mother and he wants to see her but I feel like it's my day too, this year he won't even be at home for it so it's just me and the kids . His mother usually comes to us for dinner Every Sunday but I won't be cooking this week

And I know I sound like a selfish Dil but i feel like I'm not going to force my daughters to come to me when they have kids or my son they can have that day to themselves .

I'm spending it with MIL and other inlaw family in person and Mom and family in US via Skype video call.

The Mom's decided together it was the perfect day to throw me a baby shower, I'm concerned the British family members will be put out by it. But traditionally since others offer to host the shower for you, you politely just nod head and go with the flow. 😅
