NHBC experiences?

Sorry on Here for traffic really. My house is a new build, 4 years old. I understand that the NHBC cover the house for 10 years, but what for? Just spotted a water mark on the ceiling, which is below a flat roof. Thinking the roof may need to be checked after some bad weather. Would they cover this or Not? Never contacted them before.

Probably not! We had lived in a new build house less than a year and some roof tiles had come off. They weren’t interested in the slightest. In my experience they try to wiggle their way out of anything.

Kind of thought it might. Just wondered if it was an avenue worth pursuing. I'm surprised your contractor isn't fixing the tiles, we had 2 years of minor fixes and I made sure they sorted them (involved nagging!). I thought that was normal?

They won’t cover storm damage but will cover a leaking roof if it’s a latent defect ie a defect from build level

We had a new build, we had rain water pouring down the inside of the bay window - local roofer had a quick look and discovered they had put nothing between the plaster and the tiles above on the bay, so entire bay "roof" and walls were sodden and mouldy. NHBC came out and said the cost of repair didn't hit their threshold. Not interested in the slightest.

Ok, maybe a bit of a long shot then
