WIBU not to visit

DammitPatrice · 04/03/2018 17:51

My sister had a little boy earlier this week - all well, in hospital for three nights and then home. I still haven't been to see them, though, as me and my DCs are suffering with a really bad cold, so I thought we'd need to stay clear.

I've just now seen on Facebook that my other sister's family, who are also full of the cold, have been along. I was feeling really bad before, as I've been desperate to see them, but now it looks like we're basically uninterested!

WIBU to stay away?

I assume you have explained to her why you haven’t been?

Yanbu at all common sense says you don’t take a cold near a newborn unless unavoidable

Idontdowindows · 04/03/2018 17:53

I won't visit the old, the sick or the very young when I have a bad cold. No use being a vector.

Just give her a shout, say you don't want to spread your germs and go by when you're not contagious anymore.

I think it's incredibly selfish to visit a newborn when you're I'll, you've done the right thing staying away. Give her a call and ask her, just explain that you're desparate to visit but you're worried about spreading your germs

She's being an absolute dick.

You are not.

FaceTime or skype if she's up for it but I wouldn't thank you for a visit.

My brother didn't visit my son for over two weeks because he had the flu. He was more upset about it than I was!

Ring your sister, explain, all will be well.

If not, she's a dick.

Your sister is probably already annoyed that the others visited when they were clearly unwell.

Such a stupid idea where a newborn is concerned.

You are in the right here!
