Hong Kong - fakes bags?

Yes. yes. Most of you probably have real designer bags/sunglasses etc etc. Of course.

Anyway. I have a flying business visit to Hong Kong next week. And my little sister wants a bag brought back. I’m assuming the Ladies Market is where to go but I’m struggling to find out any way we can guess what’s going to be there so she can give me her preferences?

Are the fakes all awful like “channel” “kape stade” type things or actually acceptable?

Any of you MNs despicable like me and bought fakes out there? What should I buy her?

Think you wont know till you get there. Years ago I got some excellent LV copies but I think its now crap. You have to look at other brands now. Also kids trainers seem consistantly good deal if you have young family.

Last time I was at the Ladies Market, the quality was pretty crap. I lived across the border in Shenzhen and lots of HK expats came over to Luohu market, as you can get amazing quality fake bags. Not my cup of tea, mind you, but they were popular.

Buying fakes supports people trafficking and criminal cartels. Just buy a high street bag in your price range.

You are better off going to Shenzhen.
The "good" fakes won't be on show though, you will have to accompany the salesperson to a local up somewhere to see those and you will find it hard to leave without buying something!
They aren't a cheap as you think and you risk getting it confiscated at customs anyway.
I would buy something traditional and locally made instead

Lock up

You can get reasonable ones in the Ladies Market (show them a picture and they often take you off to a lock up somewhere) or even Stanley market (which is a much nicer place anyway). But they all fall apart sooner rather than later and you are supporting dodgy people.
