I hate snow

Elusiveone · 02/03/2018 21:49

Anyone else hate it. Reason i hate is i have a disabled dd who has mobility disabilities and cannot walk in the snow in fear of her falling and getting a injury and the coldness making her hips seize up. So im stuck in doors feeling trapped and bored. I know i sound selfish but its no fun.

I hate it too, I'm sick of the cold, sick of the snow, and just quite pissed off. Poor you, that's hard and your dd tooThanks

Bluntness100 · 02/03/2018 21:57

I hate it too. I'm feeling really fucked off and grumpy because of it...

TheHolidayArmadillo · 02/03/2018 21:59

I hate it. I shouted at the telly to fuck off this evening after the kids went to bed when every other programme on the tv guide had some snow reference. The One Show: Snow Special. FUCK OFF.

Elusiveone · 02/03/2018 22:00

Glad im not the only one. Its boring and so crap being indoors. Hurry up and melt away so we can all get back to some kind of normality.

I hate it too. I've spent a fortune this week parking at work as too icy to use our bikes. Now I'm sweating about dd1 getting back to uni in Scotland tomorrow, she's been visiting friends in Switzerland AND dh is waiting for a delayed flight home from the US - and when he gets here his route across the Pennines is current.y closed.....

ScreamingValenta · 02/03/2018 22:04

I don't have anything like your reason to hate it, OP Flowers, but yes, I also loathe the stuff.

Hear, hear to it melting away soon!

WitchDancer · 02/03/2018 22:07

I'm with you - I daren't go out in it for fear of tumbling and won't drive just in case of an accident and loosing my only means to get there.

My work colleagues are thankfully understanding, as are my family who I am meant to be having a meal with tomorrow.

I have got plenty to occupy me though so I'm good for a few days

issy196 · 02/03/2018 22:14

Another snow hater here. My local council have done a terrible job of looking after the roads/pavements - I fell over twice walking about 100m down the pavement on a main road today, was wearing sensible shoes too!

I grew up in the countryside and used to love the snow there, but that nice white powder stuff as opposed to the brown sludge we currently have. Can’t wait for it to go away.

NorthernLurker · 02/03/2018 22:48

And now virgin have cancelled trains north of Newcastle so she won't get back tomorrow. Luckily we are in york so she should be able to get here then get on her way when she can. All roads blocked at the moment. I've booked her a first class seat for Sunday but it will be touch and go I think

Princesspinkgirl · 02/03/2018 23:48

Snow is pissing me off

Elusiveone · 02/03/2018 23:51

Sounds like were all getting bored of it. Well i wish you all a good weekend with whatever is planned.

OP posts:
dantdmistedious · 02/03/2018 23:52

I quite like it but yesterday trying to work from home when the kids were cooped up because school was shut nearly sent me over the edge.

You have real reason to hate it so I hope it gets better quick where you are.

NinjagoNinja · 02/03/2018 23:57

It's only brown sludge once they've thrown the grit down!

We've had really nice "dry" snow here, powdery and soft. I actually love seeing nature at work. It's better than year-round grey clouds.

I do sympathise with you though OP, it must be a very hard time for anyone with mobility problems.

SoleBizzz · 03/03/2018 00:15

Yanbu I empathise. Snow is pretty but lethal. Ice is lethal.

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 03/03/2018 00:48

It's an absolute arse. I was shitting myself all week in the HGV. Tonight on the M6 was terrifying.

Also our outhouse water supply has frozen, so laundry has to be dragged 5 miles to a launderette at vast expense.

ScreamingValenta · 03/03/2018 00:51

Snow is pretty but lethal

It's pretty for about a day before becoming stained and grimy Grin.

wanderings · 03/03/2018 07:05

Bored stiff of it. I'm missing a lot of my outdoor activities. That snowfall in December was quite enough for a few years. It's March FGS, it should be getting WARMER after what feels like the longest winter ever! I've been working off my frustration by sweeping snow away.

FortheloveofJames · 03/03/2018 07:22

I hate it. I’m from the central belt with the red warning and we have so much in some parts it’s uo to my thighs.

It’s just annoying- DC is 9 months, too young to play in the snow and I can’t take him out anywhere as can’t use the pram and the wind chill is so cold it wouldn’t be fair to take him out in the sling. All shops near us cleared out. Why oh why when snow comes to people clearly crave endless toast and sandwiches all day long that means they need 3 loaves each??

Cabin fever setting in. And to top it all of it’s meant to get colder and therefore all this snow will just turn to ice and be a death trap Envy

SharkSave · 03/03/2018 08:17

Another snow hater here! Currently 6 months pregnant so terrified of slipping over.

PumpkinPie2016 · 03/03/2018 08:40

I don't mind a bit of snow but haven't liked it at all this week!
I live on a narrow, steep lane which is currently impassable by car and very difficult on foot - thigh deep in places! My car was parked in the village 2 miles away before a it blocked off so we can walk to it but it's not easy and definitely not suitable for taking 4 year old DS out.

I teach and my school has been shut since Wed as has DS preschool - people think I am glad to have had snow days but in all honesty, I'm not - I have year 11 and sixth form exam classes and every lesson counts so I will now have to play catch up!

I will probaly have to walk to the car to get to work Mon if a are open.

My dad drives HGV'S and it we really sorting Thursday as he got stranded on the M62.

I can't visit my Nan who is frail and elderly either Sad

DS is bored at home, despite my trying to amuse him as best as I can.

Frankly, I'm fed up of it and want it to disappear so that everyone can get back to normality!

Moominfan · 03/03/2018 08:43

Yea cold and wet. Worst combination. Only like it to ski on

Ubercorn87 · 03/03/2018 08:46

Yeah I hate it too. You don't expect snow in these parts (London) so I don't have appropriate footwear.

Been dealing with itchy chilblains for days now.

lovesugarfreejelly63 · 03/03/2018 08:53

Husband and I snowed in all week, we are dusting the dust off each other!
