Quick question for everyone

If you got your first choice on secondary
School but now want the second choice
Can you do anything about this?

you can go on the waiting list or appeal. whatever you do, accept the first choice place or you might end up with nothing!

we had our offers through by email. For each one on the website you could either accept or reject or appeal. Does yours not do that?

minime01 · 01/03/2018 15:41

No they don't give you the option they just say that the second and third are dismissed
As first place has been approved

It's a single offer system - you are given the school you rank highest on your application form if you qualify for more than one.

minime all you can do is apply for the school you now want, and expect to be turned down and placed on to the waiting list (because unless it's undersubscribed, all its places will have been offered out). You then have to decide whether you stick it out on the waiting list, or appeal for a place at the school (for secondary, you can try this on the basis of why your DS really would benefit from this school to an extent which outweighs and disadvantage to the school from admitting another pupil).

What you should not do is turn down the place you have been offered,. Your accepting it will make no difference whatsover to your position in the waiting list or chances at appeal for the school you prefer now. And if you cannot secure a place, you run the risk of being left with no school at all, or the nearest one with a vacancy (which might be one you like considerably less than the one you currently have)

Ah ok, we rejected our only offer so no experience in what the boxes would have shown if we'd had more than one offer

Quickerthanavicar · 01/03/2018 17:22

You are appealing that you didn't get your second preference, but you did get your first? #confused
