I've been looking to go to Cardiff for a weekend stay and this place keeps coming up. Would anyone really pay £1200 for this place, even the bath mat in the photos is filthy

also this one
You can get a nice hotel for a lot less even during the rugby.

When the champions league was on in Cardiff people were genuinely paying that price for shit like that. I'm guessing they didn't take the place down after the event was over.

littlemissrain · 01/03/2018 13:34

That looks very strange. That massive picture of a child above the bed is a bit creepy.

falsepriest · 01/03/2018 13:34

Mystery solved:

The UEFA Champions League (football) Final was held in Cardiff in early June last year. The "hotel" you've linked started taking bookings in late-May 2017. Price gouged to take advantage of it and never amended.

bruffin · 01/03/2018 13:41

Thanks
Must be a bit like Wimbledon during the tennis or Notting Hill during the carnival then.

Someone must be really desperate to pay £1200 for that place for one night. The advert is following me on google and that red bed is really creepy

What an overpriced shit hole Shock

MothertotheLordsofmisrule · 01/03/2018 14:22

Eww!

Looking at the beds do they actually have mattresses? And if so they look very...well used.

DalekDalekDalek · 01/03/2018 14:28

Why would anyone have paid that? Even if every hotel was full, you could just stay outside of Cardiff and get the train in.

Spangles1963 · 01/03/2018 19:11

That looks grim. The only thing that looks ok is the decent sized shower cubicle. But that child picture above the bed.....Hmm

AutumnalTed · 01/03/2018 19:15

How annoying that the pillows on the green bed are the wrong end????

Unihorn · 01/03/2018 19:19

The places outside Cardiff were charging prices upwards of this too at the time. It was utter madness.

www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/destinations/europe/united-kingdom/wales/cardiff/articles/rooms-for-champions-league-in-cardiff-renting-for-thousands-of-pounds/

Flamingo84 · 01/03/2018 19:37

People were renting out their houses/just a bedroom here for the football. It was madness.

If you’re looking for hotels in the centre of Cardiff, the Hilton, Park Plaza and Radisson Blu are right in the heart of everything. You can walk to most main attractions from them.

If you want something a bit fancy, the St.Davids hotel in the bay is lovely. There are also good transport links from town to the bay but you can walk it if at a push.

Personally, I’d avoid the Citrus hotel and the Angel hotel.

Enjoy your visit!
