Need to rant about this somewhere I'm not going to be identified!!!!

Today I found this question in a library book. There is no hope.

And the tricky words song on YouTube which my DS has just shown me and which they listen to at school spells out words containing the letter H as "HAITCH". It's not fucking "haitch". AIBU to think that educational things should get it right?

I know. Get a life.

This bothers me which shows very clearly I'm slowly turning into my mother and I'm only mid 20s.

I remember my mum often correcting worksheets my teachers prepared when I was in primary school mainly missing apostrophes or grammar errors (not actually on the paper, not sure if that would've gone down well)! It is baffling to me how these things aren't checked.

Huntinginthedark · 27/02/2018 17:17

There are thousands of books with bad grammar, it's good to learn this early on in life.

OwlinaTree · 27/02/2018 17:18

Well they should but they are only human. Let it go.

LonginesPrime · 27/02/2018 17:21

I agree about the book and think a complaint to the publisher is in order.

I can't get too excited about the pronunciation thing though - it feels classist and I can understand what people mean when they say haitch so I don't really care how others say it.

Idontdowindows · 27/02/2018 17:58

Icey, mine did on paper and sent me back to school with them.

TabbyMumz · 27/02/2018 18:39

What is wrong with the picture?

lovelyjubilly · 27/02/2018 18:49

Fewer brushes...

mikeyssister · 27/02/2018 19:58

I thought I was supposed to count the brushes Blush

lovelyjubilly · 01/03/2018 07:59

You are supposed to count the brushes if you can't work out the answer by just looking. However the question is supposed to say 'fewer brushes' not 'less brushes'. Brushes are a discrete measure, not continuous.

Whatshallidonowpeople · 01/03/2018 08:03

Haha most people on here won't even know what the issue is...and say haitch.

mikeyssister · 01/03/2018 19:47

@lovelyjubilly yeah I go that thanks

@Whatshallidonowpeople I say haitch too
