To think a helpline service should keep appointments?

A service, I don't want to say which but a support type I used to have contact with I recently felt the need to contact again. I left several messages, none returned. Got through once, told someone would call back. They never did. Called again... finally told who I spoke to previously had moved departments and they could do a new referral.

Arranged telephone appointment. Called at specified time to be told they couldn't do it then as they had to do something else but they could do it same time next day.

Called specified time following day... no answer. Called several times and emailed. Now in tears because I bloody built up to making this contact again, and I feel paranoid why they're not communicating with me.

Well I don't suppose they set out to be disorganised, and it's unlikely to be personal.

Is it run by volunteers? Or likely to be chronically underfunded, so that they are essentially firefighting?

Perhaps you should try another organisation.

Without revealing who or what... they are THE service

I don't think there is another... who wouldn't refer me back to them
