Big fan of corrie.. Yes it's just a soap and i know they do cover some very real and very tough story's but seeing Billy completely off his box on heroin was too much for me and then when his brother described it as what heaven must feel like I was pretty disgusted.

Yeah, it was pretty dark. My DS likes Corrie but I’m having to stop him watching it these days.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 26/02/2018 23:30

Yes it was. However its also highlighting how delirious Billy is with the pain, and How desperate he is.
The Doctor was very unsupportive and basically chased him when he begged for stronger pain killers. These things can happen when you dismiss your patients.

Oh yes i totally get it and these people who end up in this hopeless situation is have my sympathy I always wish there was something I could do to help my cousin is a heroin addict and he's done other stuff when doctors have refused to help including drinking toilet cleaner and smoking buscapan tablets. We have found him collapsed in a pool of his own vomit on more then one occasion and we try and get help and nobody wants to know. I just felt this was a strong scene that's all but yes it did portray the desperation.

All the soaps have become so ridiculous nowadays that I've stopped watching.

Lalliella · 26/02/2018 23:39

I hate drug storylines they’re so boring and depressing. And I hate what they’re doing to Corrie, it’s one hard-hitting story after another, if I wanted to watch eastenders I’d - errmm - watch eastenders. Billy should go back to the GP durr why didn’t he think of that? Annoying.

SimplyJaded · 26/02/2018 23:44

In Billy's case (intelligent, professional, mature man with direct experience of what illegal drugs can do in the form of his brother)...is it believable that he would just go to the GP once for stronger pain relief?

And then instead move rapidly from illegal pills to liquid methadone to heroin? Mmm. It all seems a bit far fetched/simple to me.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 26/02/2018 23:45

The thing with corrie is is that it does tend to rush story lines. Remember Max with the ADHD. Didn’t he have his diagnosis In a week. IRL it takes weeks/months. FFS start getting real corrie.
I just hope Billy is not back to his usual self next week as though nothing has happened
Addiction takes years to recover from and sadly people don't ever fully recover. They can relapse again at anytime. I just hope they don't do those with drug dependencies and their families and disservice

Peanutbutterjelly1 · 26/02/2018 23:51

Completely agree with what's being said here my husband moans about the soaps but tonight he looked up from his phone in horror I dont think he could quite believe what he was watching.

I hope has they have gone down the route they now make it believable for all the family's goinh through the heartache that comes from a loved ones addiction. It's awful.

I watched this tonight and was confused who are these two new characters and why are they taking heroin I'm a church?

JoeyMaynardssolidlump · 26/02/2018 23:56

Havnt watched soaps since Den and Ange!

I think they are on far far too early and should be after the watershed.

Shudder to think primary school kids watch this shite

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 27/02/2018 00:01

Exactly, Peanut there's nothing more annoying when a story line thst youre going/been through is not portrayed realistically.
Yes EE has its faults to give credit. It does do emotive story lines properly eg Staceys bipolar disorder and Postpartum psychosis.
No disrespect to the writers of corrie but shed be cured after a week and it'd never be mentioned again.
