to want shoe shops to agree on shoe sizes - eg: 39 = 6 argh!!!

does this bug anyone else? When I'm looking for shoes and I ask the assistant for a size 7, sometimes they bring a 40 and sometimes a 41 - it drives me mad!! I want a 41!!

European shoe sizes do my head in, they don't make sense - am I right in thinking

6 = 39
6.5 = 40
7 =41
8 =42

how come there's a 6.5 but not a 7.5?

Is it like this in smaller sizes?

sorry, just had a bad day shoe shopping...

It annoys me, because in some shops they say an 8 is a 42, but others say it is a 41> i got a pair of flat pumps from new Look which said 8/41 but they don't fit, far too tight and short. Then a pair from somewhere else may have 8/42 . it is annoying

Men's and women's shoes are different, I think. Mens 7 is a 41 but womens 7 is a 40.
