Ive had a swollen neck/gland for around a week now. It was nae bother until Friday. I look like a hamster because its so swollen. A lot of people have noticed it, saying it looks sore. Im finding it hard to swallow, definitely can't eat solid food, as it won't go down.

DP has looked down throat and cant see any redness or whiteness indicating any throat trouble. And my throat isnt sore.

I have a general tiredness, and a bit achey but nothing out of the ordinary. I do have shortness of breath which comes and goes (usually very active).

Its REALLY sore and the pressure on my jaw bone has caused bruising.

I feel bad going to make an appt as docs are so overstretched and i dont neccessarily feel ill.

AIBU to ask if anyone has had anything like this before? Im really worried

I would def go to doctors! If shortness of breath occurs again I'd probably call 111 or go to walk in centre, don't mess with breathing!!

Could it be mumps? My husband got it and started with a swollen neck and it was very painful in his jaw.

Crazycatlady123 · 25/02/2018 21:39

Call 111

111 to be sure

You have had a swollen neck for a week, you are experiencing shortness of breath and the swelling has caused bruising on your jaw and you are having difficulty swallowing.....I really don’t get how you can consider NOT seeing your gp.

If this were me I’d have seen my gp days ago - and I have to pay to go to the doctor as I’m in ireland.

I agree with previous posters who have advised 111 or walk in centre.

111 or ring GP surgery first thing in the morning. Doctors are stretched but their surgeries would be empty if no one ever wanted to bother them!
